lidstahdon't know if anyone is using jellyfin here but https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/releases/tag/v10.11.7 << upgrade due to critical security vulnerability discovered (disclosure in 14 days per their policy)14:20
fricklerlidstah: thx for the note. running it in my home net only, but still a good idea to upgrade probably. unless this is a con to get people to deploy the freshly backdoored version - you never know these days14:25
+ paperManu (~paperManu@modemcable141.205-200-24.mc.videotron.ca)14:43
lidstahfrickler: same here, I don't expose much services outside my homelab (and the exposed services get to run in their own vlan). this popped on my feed, probably will update the image tag tonight after work.15:14

joschstephano: do you have your workaround for pocket panel blanking as a patch somewhere? We could have it be built in a MR to reform-debian-packages and use that to let others try it out?16:37
stephanojosch Sadly no. I've done quite a few experiments, but I still haven't proven it is a timing issue. It's possible some of the vendor initialization register table that is sent makes sense for the JDI panel but isn't perfect for the Wisecoco panel. I contacted Wisecoco and they were nice enough to send me a "datasheet", but they didn't want to share their init code, which makes sense (I guess). 16:48
joschyeah i mean who are you trying to use their products... :/16:49
- pomel0 (QUIT: Remote host closed the connection) (~pomel0@user/pomel0)16:51
stephanoRight, that was my thought. I think from their perspective they sell adapters that connect the displays into HDMI / Audio / USB break-out boards. So the init code would probably fall into their "secret sauce". 16:52
stephanoI'm also in discussions with Data Modul about procuring displays with PCAP over i2c to create touch displays for the pocket. That would get us a vendor willing to procure displays over the next 5-10 years, including touch, and actually work with us on bring-up / support.16:55
stephanominute: not sure if this ^ is something that MNT Research would be interested in, but let me know if so.16:57

siviqlidstah Hi, checking how is the MNT Reform experience going for you :) . Did you got Debian stable running? I've been doing some side projects on my main laptop, but it became obvious I would prefer to move the 'daily driver' work onto another device, thus eagerly waiting the Reform :D17:48
lidstahsiviq: for the moment, I kept the debian unstable running on it, booted the debian stable image yesterday evening on an sd card to check everything worked (it does) so I've a rescue system "just in case"18:07
lidstahbooted the openbsd image too, which does boots, but no display18:07
lidstahtalked about it with the friend, which asked on the openbsd communications channels and got a bit more of context:18:09
lidstah23:49:28     ~jca | < k> m: looks like u-boot still has no code to set up the framebuffer18:09
lidstah23:49:33     ~jca | < k> so no simplefb on rk3588 18:09
lidstahthe rest is in French but that was what we thought18:10
+ hlep (~hlep@user/hlep)18:10
lidstahbut as barebox seems to set up the framebuffer, there might be a way to get a fb for wscons18:11
lidstah*efi framebuffer18:12
lidstahs/which/who/ (I always mix them)18:13
lidstahsiviq: and well, for the moment, the experience is quite positive, that machine is amazing18:13
lidstahthe keyboard is great, the trackball is not that hard to get used too (for someone who never used a trackball), the rk3588 performance is really good - got a good bunch of emulators running, luanti and openmw (morrowind) run without a hitch, and everything I need to work is here and comfy (ssh, netbird, browsers, emacs because orgmode and vim because that's what I use since 34 years)18:17
lidstahthe integrated emmc performance is quite impressive too, emmc has gone a long way, and the raspberry pi branded NVMe ssd works without a hitch18:18
lidstahso I'm really happy with it :)18:19
lidstahsiviq: last but not least, the warning in the manual about the headphones and setting volume output to around 30% is *not18:25

siviqlidstah Cool. Sounds like you're having a great time :) The trackball is something I have distant memory of, but believe it's easy to get used to. There is trackpad at Mouser, if you're interested into switching.19:02
lidstahsiviq: indeed I'm having a great time :D and the trackball wasn't hard to get used to (in fact, it's really precise, I do like it a lot). For gaming tho, an usb mouse might be better :D19:11
lidstahsiviq: did you had news about when yours will be delivered?19:14
joschlidstah: it makes me very happy to hear about your positive experiences so far -- shout if you find anything that i can improve on the Debian/reform-tools side of things :)19:32

lidstahjosch: don't worry, I'm French. Shouting about problems is a specialty here! :D - more seriously, reform-check is on the green side here, so nothing yet to update/patch/etc. I'll probably ask too much questions when I'll have to flash firmwares and such ^^' (I'm always a bit weary/meticulous when I have to flash firmwares)19:53
jahlidstah: no suprise you like "reform(es)"! (sorry)19:54
lidstahjah: nice one :)19:56

siviqlidstah There are no news about delivery yet, but given I'm near the end of the queue, hoping by the end of April. Either way, once it gets warmer I wont be having much free time for it, as there is house renovation project incoming. Yesterday started using 3D application name "Sweet Home 3D" to create floor and interior plans. It runs fine on20:14

joschkfx: but this is for the pocket reform (despite the name in the device tree)21:40
joschkfx: on classic, it will enable only hdmi, not dp or dsi->edp yet21:41
joschkfx: the "docs" are some bits in irc history for example in https://mntre.com/reform-irc-logs/2026-01-21.log.html or https://mntre.com/reform-irc-logs/2026-01-23.log.html or https://mntre.com/reform-irc-logs/2026-01-25.log.html21:46
josch2026-01-28 and 2026-01-31 also has some bits21:46
