chartreusePicked up a small exciter type speaker in my latest digikey order, kinda experimenting with using it as a kind of subwoofer hooked to the bottom case. 05:06
chartreuseI wish out3 on the wm8960 was broken out to a test point, but I think I'll be able to hook a wire to it, as well as the gpio for headphone detect output to drive a second small amplifier. Though problem is won't have volume control on it05:07
joschheh :) i wished for a few more 2.54 pin headers when i installed my second headphone jack into my reform -- cables are now just soldered onto wherever there was space :D05:12
chartreuseWould have also been nice if all the unused gpio pins on the main cpu connector were broken out to headers or pads, but not the end of the world05:14
chartreuseWonder if for a volume controlled output it'd be better to try and add a voltage divider to one of the existing speaker outputs to go to a tiny amp to drive the extra speaker05:15
joschi think i remember minute complaining about insufficient space on the motherboard when version 2.5 was being finished -- the battery holder was about to be axed :D05:16
chartreuseYeah I figure it's all quite dense on here05:16

minutehmmmmmm this sounds a bit weird re: debian wine 32-bit build mixed with 64-bit times https://github.com/ptitSeb/box86/pull/96922:32
+ jacobk (~quassel@2601:380:837e:24e0:f88e:b38c:4fc8:ae5f)22:36
joschoh is this because debian changed armhf time_t to be 64bit but for compatibility reasons, 32bit windows executables are of course 32 bit time_t22:37
joschso in the past this just worked 1-to-1 but now some translation is needed?22:38
minutei think so22:39
joschis this still needed with wine wow64?22:39
minuteah not sure how that works22:41
joschyou should be able to try this out since you are on debian unstable *and* want to run old 32bit things? :)22:42
joschsince your wine is only amd64 and not i386 anymore, maybe you don't need armhf anymore?22:42
minutehmm, wow64 could be a great alternative, but not sure how to activate it on debian22:43
minutei'm trying to just remove wine32 and see if it's automatic22:44
minuteha > 0110:err:environ:init_peb starting L"Z:\\home\\mntmn\\Downloads\\csp\\isxunpack.exe" in experimental wow64 mode22:45
minutehmm > wine: failed to load L"\\??\\C:\\windows\\syswow64\\ntdll.dll" error c000013522:46
minutei think this is a bug where syswow64 is not populated22:48
josch"The new WoW64 mode is not yet enabled by default. It can be enabled by passing the `--enable-archs=i386,x86_64` option to configure"22:51
joschseems the debian wine packaging is not doing that (yet)22:51

minuteok, will try builds from https://github.com/Kron4ek/Wine-Builds/releases22:53
joschwine 9 is in unstable -- i you have an amd64 box around it should be simple to add that option to CONFLAGS in debian/rules and see what happens? :)22:54
minutejosch: i do not have an amd64 box around :D22:55
joschthis is the wrong channel to ask for one too :D22:56
joschyou could abuse the gitlab CI box... ;)22:56
minuteyeah, too complicated for me tonight :D23:00
joschoh funny, debian wine also does not add --with-wayland23:01
minute:023:05
minutethis kinda works https://archlinux.pkgs.org/rolling/chaotic-aur-x86_64/wine-staging-wow64-9.12-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst.html23:05
joschyes, I'm copying the option from the archlinux 23:06
Jonas__hi there, do anyone here know how to flash the bootloader on the emmc on a non working Pocket (https://community.mnt.re/t/mnt-pocket-reform-essentials/2094/3)?23:06
joschPKGBUILD to debian/rules right now23:06
chthat sounds very wrong :D23:07
minuteJonas__: why is it non-working?23:07
minuteJonas__: what happened exactly?23:07
joschch: you came to the right channel :)23:10
- mjw (QUIT: Ping timeout: 252 seconds) (~mjw@gnu.wildebeest.org)23:10

+ mtm (~textual@c-71-228-84-213.hsd1.fl.comcast.net)23:19
minuteJonas__: it does not23:22
minuteJonas__: what exactly is the issue? then i can tell you what to do23:23
joschJonas__: it's this problem here, right? https://community.mnt.re/t/mnt-pocket-reform-doesnt-boot/2254/123:24
Jonas__I've detailled all in this post [https://community.mnt.re/t/mnt-pocket-reform-doesnt-boot/2254/8] but to sums things up, I'v got a non working Pocket with a defective charger and when powered-on directly I can see the OLED menu but using it (or the Hyper+Enter shortcut) doesn't power the Pocket23:25
Jonas__I'm troubleshooting and I'm now wondering whether the bootloader is fine or not23:25
minuteJonas__: thanks, i remember now23:26
Jonas__you're welcome23:26
minuteJonas__: first of all, there's no way to access the emmc from the outside using the pocket reform motherboard. 23:26
minuteJonas__: then, the blinking you describe sounds like the system controller is rebooting in a loop23:27
minuteJonas__: i.e. the rp204023:27
Jonas__ok23:27
minuteJonas__: so there are in general 2 options. either you send us the device for free warranty repair or if you want to do more hacking yourself you can comment out something in the system controller firmware and reflash it via the sysusb port23:28
minuteit is a bit strange that you see absolutely no output on serial2 though, because it sounds like the board is powered for at least a moment23:29
minutepink light means a combination of blue light (= system power on) and red light (= usb-c pd power negotiated)23:29
Jonas__thanks for this clarification. As I'm waiting for some feedback on my ticket (I'm not in a hurry, I'm sure plom has got some backlog to deal with before getting to my ticket) I'm willing to go further because it will serves 2 purposes : 1) preventing some CO2 emission while shipping back the Pocket and 2) letting me know in more details the first computer in ages I've been excited about23:30
minuteJonas__: ok! yes i have on my todo list that i'll deal with all technical support issues in more detail tomorrow23:30
minuteJonas__: i suspect you're hitting this case in the sysctl firmware https://source.mnt.re/reform/pocket-reform/-/blob/main/pocket-reform-sysctl-fw/sysctl.c?ref_type=heads#L141423:31
Jonas__Regarding the LED it's the night right now and I can say with confidence that it's lighting in red and not in pink, I'll update my post23:31
minuteJonas__: because you have no charger module connected, max_dump() returns something <6 (some random value)23:31
minuteJonas__: so it thinks it has to renegotiate the power which cuts the pd power for a moment, and the cycle continues23:32
minuteJonas__: so if you comment out this <6V check and build + flash that firmware to the rp2040 via the sysctl usb port, then it should be stable23:32
Jonas__ok so either I comment out this test or replace state = 0 with state = 123:32
minuteJonas__: also when connecting the sysctl usb-c to another computer you'll be able to see the debug prints if you output /dev/ttyACM0, i.e. `tio /dev/ttyACM0 -b 115200`23:33
Jonas__Thank you for this explaination. Is there any documentation regarding how to compile and flash the controller through the sysusb port (jumpers settings etc...)?23:33
minuteJonas__: there's also an undefined constant ACM_ENABLED, if you enable that you can power the device on and off via pressing 0 or 1 on the ttyACM23:34
minuteJonas__: i think we included that info in the handbook, one sec23:34
minuteJonas__: yes, see page 69 https://mntre.com/documentation/pocket-reform-handbook.pdf23:34

Jonas__indeed, I did read it previously but wasn't sure where (forums, IRC logs, docs...) and as the SYSUSB string didn't retrun anything while CRTL-F the manual I thought it was somewhereelse. Sorry for that23:37
Jonas__I'm gonna look at that and keep everyone updated through my forum post. While I'm here with you I have to congratulate you (and all the team) for this marvelous and quirky machine. It's really something else and I'm seeing this small hardware issue as a way to speedrun the process of getting to know the ins and outs of my new Pocket Reform, so thank you : )23:40
minuteJonas__: thank you, and i apologize that there are technical issues on your machine!23:41
