BoostisbetterThe pocket reform is about productivity while providing some mobility advantages. I'm some one this sort of mobility really speaks to. When you commute to work being able to take a smaller computer saves on space and weight. 08:40

joschi don't have a librem5 but i preordered one five years ago and then cancelled my preorder because after getting married, getting my phd and getting my first child while still waiting for a phone i ordered years ago, my life has changed enough so that i didn't want it anymore10:05
joschthen they wouldn't refund our money and pointed out that while i was waiting for the phone they changed the refund rules to which i never agreed10:06
joschwe did the whole kaboodle of going to the state attourney of california and writing the FTC but to no availc10:06
joschif you open the Purism reddit and read the Top posts of this year and the frustrated stories of users: that's basically what happened to me as well10:07
joschi don't know about the hardware but i cannot recommend the company and how they refuse to communicate and conduct fair business10:07
BoostisbetterYep that is my beef as well. Terrible customer support and shady business practices that put everything about staying solvent over anything else. 10:10
BoostisbetterThey are doing good things software wise and their drive to manufacture in the US are two very good things, but sadly they don't wipe away these other problems. 10:11

minuteBoostisbetter: FWIW the nitrogen8m SOM in reform is also manufactured in the USA, but we have never marketed this fact12:30
minute(boundary devices is a vertically integrated company)12:30

c-keen[m]oh what?14:00
minuteyeah, i think that was a patch by vkoskiv 14:01
joschthat reminds me of yet another one of my wishlist items: proper tagging and changelogs for the mainboard and keyboard firmware :D14:13
minuteoh yeah :314:19
joschvagrantc is packaging those for debian14:21
joschfor that it would also help to have dedicated repositories for each14:21
joschthen they can evolve and get tagged independent from the big main repo which can include them as a git submodule if needed14:22
vkoskivminute: wasn't the battery refreshing one of your fixes? :D14:22
c-keen[m]it would be nice to be able to subscribe to an rss feed with news like that14:23
c-keen[m]my time budget currently does not allow monitoring the repositories for interesting developments... 😕14:23
minutevkoskiv: hmm i don't remember :D14:25
vkoskivCan't blame ya, so many things on your plate :D14:25

bkeysWhere is the reform user manual? I am having trouble finding it20:00
JC[m]HTML: https://mntre.com/reform2/handbook/index.html20:01
JC[m]PDF: https://mntre.com/media/reform_md/mnt-reform2-operator-handbook.pdf20:01
JC[m]Found here under documentation: https://mntre.com/media/reform_md/2020-05-08-the-much-more-personal-computer.html20:01
JC[m](which is reached by clicking MNT Reform under the landing page for mntre.com)20:02
bkeysI am essentially trying to migrate my Reform installation to boot from emmc and use that and my nvme drive in tandem20:02
bkeysDuly noted20:02
bkeysIf I can free up the SD card slot then  I can use that to try and make a bootable Fedora image20:03
bkeysIsn't there some script that comes with the system image that does that for me?20:03
bkeysI know I am gonna have to flip over the DIP switch on the SoM so that it boots from eMMC20:04
+ ajr (~ajr@user/ajr)20:12
JC[m]I believe the functionality is performed within the reform-migrate and reform-boot-config scripts.20:13
JC[m]I haven't tried it on my unit yet (still lending it out to a fellow member) but I plan to cull through the forum and expound upon the guide in the handbook to have a tested/verified "single point of truth" to point users toward.20:13

Boostisbetteris it possible to private chat to people on here? Like if I would like to say something to minute in confidence? 21:18
bkeysYeah just do /msg minute although most IRC etiquette dictates most people want to consent to receiving private messages first21:20
Boostisbetter/msg minute Just checking if this works? 21:21
bkeysWhat IRC client are you using?21:23
Boostisbetternone, I'm bridged through XMPP via Cheogram21:25
Boostisbetterit is all good, I think I've asked something along these lines before and the direction was to email. 21:25
