fizzoce: I was wondering too if 40pin eDP panels could fit the Reform Next, as I found these two OLED 12.5" 16:10 panels on panelook that have smaller outline than the original LCD panel:12:02

minutefizzo: exciting options, thanks for digging! we can just make a different custom cable for 40pin!13:25
minutewe have a custom cable currently from 30pin edp to jst-sh13:25
minutebut it would also be possible to use a 40 to 40 pin cable and fork the edp adapter tile (little pcb)13:26
minuteit's mostly just a passive pcb13:26
minuteso, in that regard we're very flexible. the main challenge is only the mechanical fit. but the screen frame is also a relatively simple part to make variants of13:27
minutebtw there's also a touchscreen variant of the default panel that also uses 40 pin13:28
svp16:10 on the classic... one can only dream...13:30
minuteclassic has speakers in the way, but one can also do a mod and have speakers in the body13:41
fizzominute thanks for the info. I'll see if I can get mechanical drawings and pinout from the suppliers13:50
minutefizzo: yeah, try some display sellers14:04

ceThis is the one I got, very very close to the same dimensions as the stock panel14:08
ceBasically I am trying to determine if there is a way to simply use one of the short (2cm or so) flexible ribbon converters right between the panel and the cable inside the bottom of the  frame14:11

fizzoce according to this page 30-pin connectors have 2 eDP lanes, while 40-pin connectors can either have 2 eDP lanes + touch or 4 eDP lanes14:33
fizzohttps://hackaday.io/project/179868-all-about-laptop-display-reuse/log/209701-common-edp-laptop-panel-pinouts14:33
fizzocan you adapt a 4 lanes 40pin connector to 2 lanes 30pin connector? 14:33
+ ce (~ce@209.149.209.111)14:34
cefizzo my understanding is yes you can, there are just refresh rate and touch limitations above 1080p when you adapt this way14:35
cewith no touch, you are limited to 60hz regardless of what 40pin/4lane spec can do14:41

loonah19:05
loonwe have very different requirements :)19:05
svpperhaps, but i have a biiig channel list and senpai (irc) works well in this environment!19:06
loonthat's totally fair, though. I'm a keyboard lover and I get grumpy about poor keyboard support, so I get it19:06
svp(note that twin is much more mouse focused than screen/tmux)19:06
minuteoh this one? https://github.com/cosmos72/twin19:08
minuteunfortunately not packaged in debian, otherwise would've given it a quick spin :D19:08
svpyeah, that one!19:08
aloo_shubitlbee can do the reverse of biboumi afaik, connect to xmpp on one end and act as a local irc server on the other so your irc client can connect to it - only that that direction is potentially more lossy since xmpp offers features that irc doesn't have19:15
svpi do have bitlbee setup but it's been a bit of a pain to get it working "just right"19:16
svpthat said, ircv3 is kind of bridging the gap there19:16
aloo_shubeen reading documentation time to time but never ended up using it19:17
