minutejosch: so the wifi and bluetooth list opening and closing is not janky for you?00:42
joschminute: i switched to 100% now and it is a tad smoother but i think it's only a fraction of a second difference00:44
joschthe tiny little pause i get before the wifi/bt lists open is one which i wouldn't even have noticed had you not told me to pay attention or actively compare their animation at 100% scale00:45

sigridIncidentally, patch 1 of this series also fixes CPU thermal throttling02:01
sigridon my RK3576 device: apparently, the mis-read OTP-programmed thermal02:01
sigridtrim values broke the thermal governor logic, which now works02:01
sigridcorrectly with properly serialized OTP reads. So it would be great to02:01
sigridhave these merged.02:01

joschnope, i have this issue with several cards from different manufacturers. The cards never last more than a year. I'd say they are "new" but they indeed get swapped in and out all the time as i flash system images onto them.13:40
joschsince i was told by a professor of flash storage in our uni that sd-cards are just crap i just accepted that as a fact and buy new cards when the old ones break. Just too bad that these days you cannot really buy 16 GB cards anymore. The smallest i find in stores is 64 GB but i don't need that...13:41
- simba (QUIT: Ping timeout: 240 seconds) (~simba@ppp-212-114-181-62.dynamic.mnet-online.de)13:41
josch(i once lost 4 months of baby photos because the sd-card broke... do backups, kids!)13:42
orvaOld gig was in project where we shipped thousands of bootable Linux USB flash memory sticks (so almost same thing as SD card) to schools every year13:45
orvaFailure rate was quite horrific. I have never trusted SD-cards / USB-flashes after that13:45
joschwhen i sent the sd-card with baby photos to a data recovery service, they told me over the phone that ever top brands cannot be relied upon as they will always put the cheapest flash they can find into their card. That's why even though i told them it was a sandisk sd-card, they told me that they cannot say up front whether they could recover the photos or not.13:47
orva(we had thin distro on top of Debian, loaded with custom/upstream kernels and bunch of software for taking exams in offline environment)13:47
joschturns out my sandisk card used a controller that they've never seen before, so all photos lost13:47
orvaYeah, we found out that cheapest flash thing as well. Buying whitelabel flash from china was as reliable as the "good manufacturer" ones, just fraction of the price. In some cases whitelabels were better *cough* kingston *cough*13:49
orvaAs upside we got branded ones as well, so there was less change that someone would use the sticks for something else and causing extra wear14:03
