minuteafter reboo that's gone00:00
minuteahhh i have that old plymouth issue when splash is turned off that it won't show the "please unlock disk" prompt without pressing return once00:01
minute"failed to start reform-hw-setup.service"00:01
minuteok, am on serial login. gdm3 still broken, cycling00:02
minutei'm starting to really really dislike gdm00:02
minuteat least i enabled a getty@tty2.service now... i wonder why all the default ttys are gone?00:03
d_mwhew! glad you got in00:04
minuteok, at least i got gdm3 debug mode already enabled, checking its journal...00:04
minutelol wat > May 11 00:02:39 pocki3000 gdm-launch-environment][3171]: Gdm: GdmSessionWorker: start program: /usr/libexec/gdm-x-session --register-session "gnome-session --debug"00:05

minuteah looks like maybe my apt full-upgrade wasn't done when i rebooted earlier, because my computer froze00:07
minute> 3672 not fully installed or removed.00:08
minutellol00:08
minuteok00:08
minutethat would explain a few things00:08
minutei have to say serial console on usb is really useful00:09
minutei think at some point it might be interesting to change the gdm3 service to fall back to a getty after a few failing starts00:11
minutethis broken loop with farting noises on speakers is not helpful00:12
minutebut, my pocket reform is running fine again now. with 7.0.4 kernel00:47

joschminute: i have good news and bad news. Good news: apparently even existing u-boot images pick up the uki images stored as /boot/EFI/Linux/MNT-SYSIMAGE-20260510T184509Z-7.0.4-mnt-reform-arm64.efi Bad news: while the system does boot (I hear the synthesized voice of the reform-setup-wizard) the display stays black (but backlight on). Removal of the /boot/EFI directory makes it boot just fine (falls back 04:24
joschto extlinux.conf). You might have a similar experience with quasar later. Maybe the dtb is somehow not getting picked up?04:24

joschaloo_shu: yes, unfortunately i do not (yet) have the new pocket reform keyboard so i have to find some time (and space) to open the case and attach the serial adapter -- i haven't yet found sufficientt ime for that. Maybe tonight. :)18:57

rick_yeah gdm is always.. phewww.. tbh i got rid of it, startup is also a lil bit faster :321:35
Svpi had to grab a new psu for the usb-c charging since i never had one around that could work, but the upside is that i can use one of those aliexpress special magnetic connectors for discount magsafe21:37

joschSvp: did you find one of these non-name magnet connectors for usb-c which does *not* become terribly hot?22:46
Svpdefine terribly hot22:50
Svpbecause afaict mine isnt going to cook an egg anytime soon22:51
Svpat least these "toocki" ones "rated" for "100W" dont seem to get hot? but my primary method of charging is through the thinkpad plug i drilled in22:52
Svpthey do work perfectly fine for phones as long as you dont use alt-displayport or fancy usb3 stuff, for that i dunno a good one22:57
joschSvp: If I accidentally touch it I burn my fingers.22:58
Svpill give it some testing but i dont recall it ever getting hot23:02
- paperManu (QUIT: Ping timeout: 248 seconds) (~paperManu@modemcable141.205-200-24.mc.videotron.ca)23:04
joschSvp: try touching it when your classic reform batteries are close to 0% and then you start charging them23:17
joschi guess it makes sense that this makes the coupling go hot because this sends up to 90 W through the thing23:18
