elbMy Pocket Reform has taken to failing to boot when the batteries are below about 50%, again.  If I can get it booted it runs fine, but there's a point in the boot sequence (about at the point where it would normally restore my backlight settings) where it often shuts down.16:37
elbI wonder if reform-power-daemon can be encouraged to start earlier in the boot process16:37
elblooking at my boot log I wouldn't be surprised to find out that ti's when the GPU inits, so maybe that won't help16:39

minuteelb: no you're exactly on the right track. the gpu inits at a high default freq i think, which causes the brownout21:39
+ cow321 (~deflated8@user/meow/deflated8837)21:44
joschgpu default frequency can probably be changed and then be set higher by reform-power-daemon later during boot if permitted. But this means that other distros have to either also package reform-tools (or otherwise they sit at minimum gpu freq all the time) or change the kernel patch stack and rebuild the kernel (not all distros rebuild it, i think arch is just repackaging the binary? is that right 22:33

stephanojosch: Today yes, the arch kernel is shipped as a binary PKGBUILD, but it is built by my own scripts. This is mostly for flexibility in trying my own patches, but also so I can try out the RC kernel like here: https://github.com/cetola/mnt-build/releases/tag/pre-7.0-rc7.reform1-aarch6423:12
stephanojosch: I'll ship a PKGBUILD that builds the kernel once I have the Reform Next in hand and am not using the A311D for kernel compilation. :) 23:13
joschindeed, rk3588 is much more fun for compiling the kernel :)23:18
