gordon1i occasionally get USB reset on the keyboard on my classic reform, sometimes it happens when i'm typing which gets key stuck for a second or two11:18
gordon1is it a known issue and if it is - is there a workaround? it gets a bit annoying sometimes11:18
joschgordon1: this happens for me when i control the keyboard backlight with kbv411:40
gordon1josch: it does happen when i change backlight through the menu, yes, however it also happens randomly from time to time (maybe ~1 event on average per day)11:41
gordon1actually i need to check if changing backlight through hidraw triggers it11:42
gordon1because i'm not sure i noticed it when i was debugging my backlight desktop notification indicator 11:43
joschi can trigger it by having "keyboard_rainbow.py -r 1" running in the background11:43
gordon1yep11:46
gordon1while true ; do keybl-solid.py 5 0 5 ; keybl-solid.py 5 5 0 ; done11:46

elbjosch: I just did `systemctl restart gdm.service`; I don't think it was a systematic failure, it just failed ot pop up a login screen12:56
elbjosch: in my multi-decade experience, gdm is just kind of crappy, I'm not worried about that at this point12:56
elbif it happens again I'll dig deeper12:57
elb(I did have to ssh in, though, because ctrl+alt+Fn+N didn't change virtual consoles)12:57
joschon pocket?12:58
joschwith older kb firmware, the order of keys is important12:58

minutei figured out how to access MaskRom mode on RK3588 with a classic reform motherboard17:39
minute1. make sure XSW DIP switch is OFF. bridge left pin of XSW to GND, easy with tweezers to the bottom left leg of CPURST button17:41
minute2. while bridging, power on the reform/MB17:41
minute3. RK3588 is now in maskrom mode17:41
minute4. connect a USB A-A cable or USB A-C cable to a hub that has power control for each port, with power turned off (might not be necessary to watch out for that, but i would recommend)17:42
minute4b. connect that cable to J17 on reform MB (directly next to HDMI port)17:42
minute> Bus 001 Device 054: ID 2207:350b Fuzhou Rockchip Electronics Company17:44

minutei'll post this to community as a tech note18:00
gordon1i think i'll just make myself a cable with VBUS cut18:02
gordon1for that purpose18:02
gordon1not that i have to much use for A-A cable anyway18:04
gordon1minute: so what you're saying there is no need to short anything on the SOM itself as per firefly instruction so i dont need to remove th e heatsink for that?18:06

minutedocumented here now https://community.mnt.re/t/rcore-rk3588-tech-note-entering-maskrom-usb-bootloader-mode/419118:17
minutegordon1: correct, because SARADC_IN0_BOOT is routed to XSW on classic reform18:17
minutegordon1: XSW doesn't work though because it can only pull that signal up, not down18:17
minute(that dip switch)18:18

minutealso interesting: getting some serial output from risc-v bpi cm6 on rcm418:46
minutegetting into uboot also via sd card. so, could be interesting for rcm5.18:59

henesyanyone had an issue where on the pocket reform you have to 'power off' 'power on' multiple times before the boot sequence actually triggers? seems to hang somewhat randomly for me unless i power cycle manually 1-5 times23:42
henesythen it boots fine as though nothing happened23:43
wickedshellhenesy: I have had that recently, not sure why. I haven't been convinced I wasn't just getting distracted/hitting the wrong keys though, but maybe I'm not crazy. (I think I started hitting 2 for power off for some reason)23:45
gordon1henesy: can't say for pocket reform, but it i observed it on my classic reform, issue probably related to rk3588 free arm trusted firmware fork that sometimes is unable to read u-boot from emmc23:51
gordon1it is really hard to debug tho23:51
henesyyeah i haven't found an error nor do i get any display it just hangs with a black screen23:59
