Svphmm. i see barebox has a mnt reform 2 config in it for the i.mx SoM, wonder how hard would it be to get that running and everything for some juicy efi support00:11
joschSvp: efi already works but if you just want efi, you can already have that with u-boot.00:11
Svpwell to be fair i was also interested in most other things in the package00:12
joschSvp: be aware, that while barebox is able to switch on the display early for pocket reform, once linux loads, you loose display again. This has to be fixed still.00:13
Svppocket? nono, i'm in for the classic00:14
joschbarebox on classic doesn't have display support yet00:14
Svprats. still worth a try for now i suppose00:15
+ siviq (~siviq@user/siviq)00:17
minutejosch: how do you know that?00:21
minutejosch: Svp is talking about imx8mq i think00:21
joschaha!00:21
joschminute: i assumed rk3588 and you told me about classic display support a few days ago00:21
joschi assumed rk3588 because that's the only platform barebox is being built for right now00:22
joschdo i misremember?00:23
Svpbarebox has a i.mx8mq (classic) reform buildconfig upstream, thats what has been piquing my interest here00:23
joschit seems i cannot read, you did write "i.mx SoM"00:25

vagrantcjosch: although, in reviewing flash-kernel merge requests ... apparently there is already bootspec (the thin barebox uses?) support in flash-kernel, inferred by the presence of a merge request to improve it: https://salsa.debian.org/installer-team/flash-kernel/-/merge_requests/6922:18
rick_siviq yeah, but it currently looks good.. even when i wooble it a liite, the connection stays in place (this was not the case with the old adapter)22:19
joschvagrantc: i ended up generating the bootspec files in reform-tools. The problem is that the swap from u-boot to barebox is not controlled by the package manager and it can happen that the user uninstalled flash-kernel because they rely on u-boot-menu. They cannot uninstall reform-tools because it is marked as Protected:yes22:34
joschvagrantc: and users who happen to have uninstalled flash-kernel will then have an unbootable system when they "upgrade" their bootloader22:35
