cararemixedIt's struggling on 5GHz.. This is a few meters line of site. Orientation doesn't change it. It's working a little but drops constantly. https://usercontent.irccloud-cdn.com/file/VJWIqmBE/20260109_01h07m42s_grim.png01:11
cararemixedIt'll just look forward to swapping in the newer breakout board so I can run the intel wifi chip.01:12

joschgsora: yes we had this running on amd64 gitlab CI system13:18
joschgsora: your output looks like crossbuilding is currently borked in unstable13:18
joschgsora: yes it is, see the red entry https://crossqa.debian.net/src/linux13:19
joschthis is unstable so it's part of the things which are expected to break regularly. you can use that website to check when it's fixed13:19
+ murphnj (~murph@user/murphnj)13:21
joschi have a problem with debian trixie but with the same kernel version from the MNT repos. The display is on during the text console but turns off once gdm3 starts. I can type my password blindly and then sway starts but display is still dark. What could i try to diagnose this situation on a311d?13:22
joschhere is a dmesg output from the boot: https://paste.debian.net/hidden/40dc118c13:22
joschthis is on a311d13:22

joschthis is my a311d system which i transplanted into rk3577 dsi reform13:23
joschit's my attempt to switch from a311d to rk3588 but the display is borked :D13:23
joschany ideas on how to debug this? this is not a fresh system image but my live system so this might be due to some misconfiguration since this used to be a311d but i'm at a loss at what to run to debug this13:24
joschoh wow13:40
joschCurrent brightness: 6 (6%)13:40
gsorajosch: ah! sad, I'll go ahead and have my rk3588 build then13:43
joschgsora: alternatively you can build from testing instead of unstable13:44
joschand hello everybody from rk358813:45
gsorajosch: is testing on kernel 613:45
joschmaybe i want to get the pocket reform extension board now so that i can put it into my classic reform and have bluetooth without a dongle13:45

joschgsora: no, the issue with device trees and debian kernel 6.18 was, that they are now installed at a different path but there is a compatibility symlink -- can you expand on the problem you see?17:24
gordon1oof, that's real one, not simulation https://tinystash.undef.im/il/3c4Xts1kencxmQMMkUDHoRZJK5NhnqVZhBPgFCe1WQLvu3D1ptSjjjFCiLhA3aKWgt4ScKHwdDbmK7ZZ9ux6CKmH.png17:32
gordon1so i guess my antenna gonna be bit suboptimal at 5.1-5.3GHz channels17:33
gordon1but tbh, stock one is not amazing there as well https://tinystash.undef.im/il/2n6wKz3wpgtH19ZNF3U1uoZmstLdjfue8yfSisTdmcNf5maNENHVueFknErN6rf4UxpRRje9wdUCiNmyuzE6PD2q.png17:33
gordon1and i have no idea what happens beyond 6GHz but judging by how it tapers down i think at least some 6GHz WLAN range should be covered17:39
gsorajosch: this is what happens: https://tangled.org/strings/did:plc:6ll5xi67lyuyovt6fiv4fnjo/3mbywrdr5j72217:40
gsoraconsider that i'm compiling from the linux6.18 branch of reform-debian-packages, if that makes any difference17:41

joschgsora: yes "Couldn't find DTB rk3588-mnt-reform2-dsi.dtb" is the problem that flash-kernel runs "find" without -H and thus the compatibility symlink is useless19:04
joschgsora: if you want a fixed flash-kernel you find it in the same branch19:05

minutegsora: how did you calibrate your panel?20:36
minutegsora: btw i also tried the reform-debian-packages kernel build today on amd64 and is also borked for me because of python stuff cc josch 20:37
minutejosch: you got around the brightness issue, right?20:37
minutegordon1: what setup did you use for getting the s-parameters?20:38
joschminute: i just ran brightnessctl on a terminal on a serial tty20:38
joschi'm travelling tomorrow but i'll take my pocket reform to perform any fixes should any be necessary20:39
minutejosch: ok great20:39
joschscary switch20:39
gordon1minute: nanovna v3 + NanoVNASaver, i had a sma-u.fl adapter, calibrated the VNA for 2-6G range and then corrected for the coax length offset to get my reference plane at the antenna20:41
gordon1not sure if that is 100% correct, but i don't have u.fl standards anyways to do it properly20:41
gordon1minute: oh, also forgot to mention, i spoke with antenna guy at the congress about that and showed him the reform, and he said that those patch antennas are matched to be placed on ABS plastic, not on PMMA, so there is a potential way to improve wifi performance by replacing little PMMA mezzanine with ABS, no idea how much will it improve things, may try it one day20:46
minutegordon1: interesting!21:14
gsorajosch: great! so git pull and rebuild should fix it?21:17
gsoraminute: I used a calibrite display pro hl, targeting 6500K 21:18
