MartiniMoeThis is a kinda off-topic question, hope its okay to ask, but since I'm thinking about improving my IRC setup: Are you people using any IRC-Bouncer? If so: which software are you using as a bouncer? And what IRC Client are you using? I'm currently considering different setups, but haven't decided yet :D08:45
MartiniMoeI'm currently thinking about setting up soju as bouncer and trying senpai as a cient.08:45
joschMe personally I'm not using a bouncer. I have a webserver which is on 24/7. I log into that one via ssh (via mosh) and it has irssi running inside a tmux session 24/7.08:53
martinsi'm using irctoday.com hosted bouncer. it works fine.09:02
jahMartiniMoe: I tried those first (sojo end senpain) but I was disapointed at the lack of support to clean history (in case it use too much space), that feature does not exists yet, keep in mind those are still in development and not at stable versions09:47
jaheventually I went with Quassel, pretty happy about it09:47
jahsenpai* :D09:48
MartiniMoejah: Thanks, thats valuable insight :) Are you running a quassel core on a server and connect to that?10:02
jahMartiniMoe: yes exactly! if you have more question I suggest we move to #quassel so we don't do too much OT talk here :)10:12
+ gidzit (~gidzit@gidzit.org)10:22
josch(personally, i think that "how can we best chat with the MNT community" is not super-off-topic and especially when there is no conversation which is more on-topic going on, some light conversation about this is fine)10:25
jahjosch: noted. that's good to hear, that's make the best channels in my opinion... I had so many great discussion where this is tolerated :)10:34

aloo_shuirc bouncers are a terrible invention, the irc client protocol is good for everything but not relaying, that's the server protocol. the only way bouncers ever took off, was terrorizing users by interpreting their intermittent connections as acts of hostility (nothing in the irc protocol forces clients to insert join/part/quit data in the chat flow)11:55

elbthis firmware divergence between pocket and next seems pretty manageable14:21
elbtrackball vs trackpad is large, but completely disjoint14:21
jfredMartiniMoe: I have a Sourcehut account and they host an instance of soju (plus a web interface) at chat.sr.ht for subscribers, so I use that. Senpai for terminal use on my Pocket Reform, and Goguma for mobile use (which I'm on right now) 14:22

joschso... there is a problem but maybe it isn't a problem because nobody has reported this issue so far?16:54
joschif you never updated your u-boot on pocket reform than the current system images are non-functional16:54
joschthe problem is, that we enabled u-boot-menu and on platforms with a u-boot which does not set ${fdtfile}, extlinux.conf will be tried first but fail because it cannot load the device tree16:55
joschnot a big deal because if u-boot cannot boot form extlinux.conf it falls back to boot.scr, right?16:55
joschthe problem is that even though it does fall back to boot.scr, u-boot *keeps* the ${bootargs} set by extlinux.conf16:56
joschand extlinux.conf has two entries, both fail but the second entry is the "rescue" target, so it includes the "single" kernel cmdline option16:56
joschor did we maybe see this problem in the forum? Is that the problem that users had when they said that even with a fresh system image all they get is a root terminal and not the graphical reform-setup-wizard?16:57

elbminute: yeah, I think part of this effort will probably be splitting the various HID devices into logically discrete components, so that you could mix and match keyboard, trackball, touchpad, gamepad, media keys, whatever18:06
elbright now the keyboard is very clearly ruling the roost and I'm not changing that in my current efforts, but it feels like it's along the right path18:07
elbalthough maybe the keyboard stays central and "other stuff" is logically discrete, we'll see18:07
elbinteresting, when swaylock locks my screen, it's doing the fade to black thing18:19
