gordon1minute: on my reform classic (that i just received, ty!) i noticed there is a patch of brighter backlight in one of the screen corners, i fixed it by loosening the screw a bit in the same corner. Is it just the case of overtightened screw or should i remove the frame and check if the whole screen panel is seated right?16:46

joschgordon1: i've had the same issue with my rk3588 classic reform and the solution was to loosen the screws in the respective corners a bit18:17
- shtrophic (QUIT: Remote host closed the connection) (~m-hrdsqi@user/shtrophic)18:17
gordon1ok, perfect, will do that and add a bit more loctite so it won't fall out18:17
gordon1i mean the screw not the screen18:17
+ shtrophic (~m-hrdsqi@user/shtrophic)18:18
gordon1also i noticed that if you leave battery status on the lcd while reform is on - sometimes it flashes empty values (9.9V for each cell), it flashes faster when charging, and when reform is off it almost never happens18:19
gordon1feels like EMI on SYSCON UART18:19
joschgordon1: the are or used to be problems with keyboard stability if you leave the oled on showing battery info18:24
gordon1okay, so it is a known issue, just checking18:24
joschgordon1: for me (and others) it completely killed the keyboard -- but i think most of that should be fixed with the most recent firmware18:24
gordon1ah, i need to update18:24
joschgordon1: but i have not heard of or seen the issue you described18:24
joschgordon1: maybe first check which version you have18:24
gordon1i need to sort out linux first18:25
joschin that context: the bottom left screw of my display bezel completely fell out yesterday18:26
joschthe threading is completely gone18:26
joschi can glue it back into place but that's supoptimal of course18:26

chorclooks like I'm joining the sad club of Pocket owners with MPSN08 chip blown up on charging board :(20:33
chorcI think somebody said this is usually happening within 24 hours of initial use, mine blown up after two months of constant use20:33
joschchorc: ouch i think that is new20:34
joschminute: ^20:34
minutechorc: sorry to hear! you already confirmed that the chip is toasted?20:36
minutechorc: you can click through the process here under my mnt device -> pocket reform -> pocket reform doesn't turn on, at the end there's a form to receive a replacement https://support.mnt.re/20:38
chorcminute: yes, the smell, the pop, I can see the place it melted on the chip (I'll attach the photo to my support case)20:39
minutechorc: thx!20:40
chorcis this happening with new boards? if so, can I buy one more replacement, just to have a spare?20:41
minutejosch: gordon1: we already ship firmware where there shouldn't be any crashes on battery status screen20:41
minutechorc: we don't have the improved design in production yet, so if the new one breaks too, we can send you another one. we currently don't sell them, but i'll finish the improved design soon20:41
gordon1minute: well, if flickering to 9.9V is a crash then it crashes apparently20:42
minutegordon1: the 9.9V or so flashing by issue is a timing issue, not EMI20:42
minutegordon1: that's not a crash20:42
gordon1ah, oh, nevermind then20:42
minutegordon1: the crash means that the keyboard is no longer usable. this was fixed20:42
gordon1good20:42
chorcminute: thanks, understood20:43
chorchere's how mine looks, if somebody likes the view of melted plastic https://ibb.co/qM7qNyND20:44
minutechorc: big oof!20:45
chorcsupport request submitted20:49
gordon1just wanted to say that putting usb uart right on charging port was a brilliant idea, i wish more devices would do that20:59
minutenice :321:02
vagrantcwow yes. been trying to figure out a good way to mount a uart adapter on the mnt/reform for a while now ...21:03
vagrantcsaw a post about someone moving the wireless antenna into the screen, which freed up some space for a uart adapter ... if i ever get ambitious, that seems like the way to go21:04
vagrantcalso saw someone wired the uart into a trrs (or trs?) jack21:05
vagrantcthat seems tempting as it is a single simple connector (and used on some pine64 boards)21:06
vagrantcwe'll see when i get my termdriver2 where that might fit21:06
gordon1trs is enough for uart, i think pinephone did it21:07
gordon1iirc21:07
vagrantcyeah, and pinebook too21:08
vagrantcalthough i wonder about the insertion order if there is any chance to short something21:09
