bremnerjosch: managed to rebase the reform rk3588 patches against rockchip-devel (6.16-ish). Will share if the test-build succeeds.01:51
minutechorc: hm, i haven't tested it but surprising/disappointing it's not in the pa tray thing. at least it's quite prominent in gnome (in the control panel)02:43
minutebtw, any sway users tried ironbar yet? maybe a comfy alternative to waybar? https://github.com/JakeStanger/ironbar02:44

kfxI ran out of memory trying to build it :/03:02
bremneroops, I spoke too soon. Apparently some of the names of things like PCIE_CLIENT_GENERAL_CONTROL changed in an incompatible way.03:10

joschbremner: the fun starts when you have patches which cleanly apply to a dts or dtsi (because the patch context is just opening and closing braces) but the error messages from dtc are not in the build log as they are not prefixed with "error:" or "E:" or similar indicators and your build still fails but since you built in parallel you do not know *why*??? :D06:24

bremnerjosch: oh goody, something to look forward to12:27
bremnerjosch: I already had the fun "-j8 is too much parallelism to see the errors"12:28
bremneroh lol. I come back to the problem and the patch in question has just been applied by collabora, literally yesterday12:46
bremnerthat's pretty exciting, only one reform patch left on top the collabora rk3588 tree. Let's see if it builds...12:52
bremneris there some documentation for what to do about dtbs for upstream kernels? I'm seeing https://paste.debian.net/1386870/ 13:33
bremnerI wonder if I missed a step when building...13:36
bremnerhmm. I guess just copying the pocket reform dts and updating the makefile is enough14:00
bremner(to get flash-kernel to run)14:00
bremnerany ideas about rk3588 pocket-reform boots self-made kernel, is usable via serial console (or ssh) but not LCD?14:39
bremnerbrightnessctl -l shows only devices of class 'leds'14:41
bremnermaybe I should have paid more attention to the warnings from building the dtb14:42

bkeysAlright I'm finally getting some uninterrupted time to test A311D17:17
bkeysjosch: I got my A311D in the Reform, I flashed a a311d image to it and the serial is just saying17:52
bkeysLOOP:15;EMMC:0;READ:0;CHK:1F;READ:0;CHK:1F;READ:0;CHK:1F;SD?:0;SD:0;READ:4;USB:8;LOOP:16;EMMC:0;READ:0;CHK:1F;READ:0;CHK:1F;READ:0;CH;17:52
bkeysPart of me wants to just send in my Reform to get repaired, but I don't know17:54
bkeysIn the meantime I'm gonna try to test my old IMX8 module18:16

chbremner: at the very least you need the panel driver patches and the dts... and if collabora changed the DT bindings then the dts will need changes18:26
+ _justin_kelly718 (~justinkel@user/justin-kelly/x-6011154)18:26
bremnerch: I think I have all the patches from reform-debian-packages/linux (most are upstream now)18:27
bremnerI'm pretty ignorant about device trees. Maybe I needed to copy over more than just the rk3588-mnt-pocket-reform.dts18:32
bremneroh lol. https://paste.debian.net/1386901/18:51
bremnerfirst warning is about the panel18:51

ch40i was wondering about that... is there an api a keyboard can expose?21:06
ch40or is that all vendor custom stuff21:06
minutech40: sure can21:06
ch40having it dim is good for power usage tho21:06
minutejosch: btw i think we need alsa-ucm-conf dependency for reform-tools (not sure if it's already there)21:07
ch40can... yeah. but something USB IF standardized?21:07
ch40should finally look into other keyboard drivers i guess21:08
