jbmorley_Hi folks. Can anyone give me pointers on how to restore a fresh image to my Pocket Reform's RK3588 emmc?05:53
jbmorley_I'm assuming there's some magic incantation of the built in tools, but I've not yet found one :).05:54
joschjbmorley_: boot an image from sd-card, connect to the internet and then run: sudo reform-flash-rescue06:03
jbmorley_Cool, thank you!06:04
jbmorley_I get a /boot/flash.bin doesn't exist.06:06
jbmorley_In fact, I think I might have now found myself with an entirely non-booting device.06:09
jbmorley_So, I guess my next question is, ... how do I recover a device that won't boot off an SD card? 🤦🏻‍♂️06:12
jbmorley_@josch I found this (https://community.mnt.re/t/flashing-emmc-bootloader-unbricking-imx8mp/2287/7). Is this the sort of thing I need to be doing?06:50
jbmorley_(Though obviously that's for the imx8mp where I have an rk3588 so I guess there are custom tools required?)06:53
joschjbmorley_: if /boot/flash.bin didn't exist then no uboot was flashed and you should still be able to boot from sd-card -- can you confirm?07:04
jbmorley_If I put an SD card in and power on I just get a blank screen.07:07
jbmorley_Which is not the behavior I was seeing. I worry that in my flailing around before selecting the correct script I nuked the emmc somehow.07:08
+ svp (~svp@host-79-7-240-189.business.telecomitalia.it)07:43
jbmorley_Are there exact instructions for connecting to the RK3588 for refreshing the emmc in this way? I've followed what I believe are the steps to connect up the system controller USB-C port but I'm not seeing any devices appear in lsusb on my desktop when the pocket reform is connected and powered on. The imx8mp instructions I linked show a small dip switch on the module itself and I've not yet managed to identify anything related.07:56
jbmorley_related... for the RK3588 board, that is.08:08
jbmorley_Looking at the iCore-3588Q documentation, I see mention of a 'RECOVERY' button which appears to be on some kind of host board...08:12
jbmorley_Is this broken out on the MNT carrier board / module?08:37

joschjbmorley_: if you have an account you might also consider writing about your case in the forum -- in IRC, things are quick to scroll into the backlog and then it's tedious to find all the details you posted for your case. In any case, answering m.inute's questions will be crucial for somebody being able to help you.12:05

bremnerThe schematics show J16, but the "serial console" part of the manual talks about J17. The motherboard diagram doesn't say. J17 in the schematics is "hard power down interface". I suppose the schematics are correct here? Just to confirm this is the 6 pins next to the left hinge?12:50

minutebremner: the 6 prongs are serial. the pinout is on the silkscreen (quite small). for rk you want the right half of the pins (port 1, unlike port 2 for imx8mplus)14:49

jfredI think I need to update some keyboard/sysctl firmware... my Pocket Reform keeps getting into a state where the keyboard thinks it's powered off while it's powered on (so every time I hit a key the OLED display pops up the hint about powering the device on)16:12

joguHey everyone, been lurking for a while! I recently picked up one of the V4 keyboards and have been working on porting the QMK firmware to it: 17:42
joguhttps://github.com/joguSD/qmk_firmware/tree/mntre-v4-wip17:42
joguStandalone keyboard functionality is all functional, but I'm having stability issues with the USB HID -- it just randomly stops updating.17:42
joguThe board itself doesn't freeze, rgb animations & oled still update, inputs to reset the board, etc. still work but reporting to the host just completely dies.17:42
joguStarting to wonder if it's a hardware issue. Would anyone with a V4 keyboard be interesting in helping test?17:42
bremnerminute: ack. is there somewhere I should file an issue?17:43
bremnerI can of course just make a forum post17:44

jfredit's the charger my company has installed at all the desks, so this saves me from having to remember an extra AC adapter if I bring it to work :D19:38
joguminute: Yep, I can definitely throw a post up with some build instructions. I'll also make a prebuilt u2f available since that will probably be easier for most.19:44
joguAlso did some spelunking through the irc logs and noticed some interest in zmk so I'll see if I can get that working as well. I'm actually hoping to get one of the major firmwares fully integrated with the system controller so it's good evaluate all the options19:46
