chorcjosch: new sysctl-fw works great, didn't get any powercycles over 12 hours (used extensively, dev work while yt playing, on wg vpn etc, was very stable)08:16
chorccouple of worrying things in dmesg, first, periodically I see this message: power_supply BAT0: driver failed to report `voltage_now' property: -16 08:17
chorcit repeats every 10-20 minutes while actively working, and every hour or so when I was away from the machine08:18
chorcsecond, I saw this one, it does not repeat, only appearing once after reboot: array-index-out-of-bounds in /build/reproducible-path/linux-6.15.3/net/mac80211/rc80211_minstrel_ht.c:409:3308:19
chorcit's a full kernel call trace, but everything still works after it08:21
joschminute: ^08:22
chorcthe last minor annoyance I have left is that it doesn't shutdown properly, I have to power it off using OLED menu08:28

kfxjosch: nope, it Just Works.  it surprised me when it did; I was expecting to have to put a boot.scr there and the alpine installer dropped a working extlinux.conf and the system just picked it up.  /dev/nvme0n1p1 is an ext4 filesystem08:54
kfxit's specifically the u-boot that ships with your system image, and here's the extlinux.conf I'm using: https://sciops.net/downloads/rcore-extlinux.conf08:57
joschkfx: nice, thank you!09:24
joschchorc: yes, that's also a known problem which is being worked on09:25
chorcgood to know; it is just a minor annoyance, I can live with it; if no powercycles happen this week I'll moving on the Pocket as my primary PC, everything else works09:53
minutechorc: thanks for the test report! 10:29

anzuHi, regarding my booting issue I raised a few weeks ago. I mentioned that after moving the boot directory from the sd card to emmc the screen remained black. Since then, it sometimes boots, and sometimes doesn't. Now I have access to an HDMI monitor, I realized that it randomly decides to use internal or external screen11:51
anzuThis is on A311D. This issue is probably the same as in the forums: https://community.mnt.re/t/bpi-cm4-a311d-with-encrypted-nvme-questions/338811:52
anzuInterestingly, to me it never happens when I plug in the SD card. The reason behind this might be that the kernel is still on version 6.12 on it, while on the emmc it's on 6.14.12:07
anzuI think this post is also about the same issue: https://community.mnt.re/t/screen-needs-several-attempts-to-turn-on-a311d/3081/812:13

bremner(how) can I disable power savings on the rk3588 pocket wifi?14:45
minutejosch: chorc: i've seen the minstrel OOB error message also in a screenshot from a customer support request. this seems to be a programming bug in the qcacld2 driver. anyone have time to check the offending line?14:46

chorcminute: that's quite a bit above my skill level; I had a quick look, it appears that the number of MCS groups (modulation and coding schemes) expected by Minstrel driver is lower than collected number from the adapter; I've found a recent report with the exact same call trace by the user with a Mediatek chipset, so might be not Qualcomms fault 15:14

minutejosch: hmmm how does the main branch reform-debian-packages CI build 6.15 but my rebased-on-main branch builds 6.14, and locally i also get 6.14 if i try my build-linux.sh script in reform-debian-packages?15:22

minutei need to urgently build a dtb here and i don't know why i don't get 6.15.315:24
joschminute: it should build 6.15 because snapshot.d.o is no longer used15:26
joschminute: did you maybe not clean your local repository cache?15:26

minutejosch: sorry for the noise!15:31
joschminute: i hope it works now! i'll be out with the baby so likely no help from me until ~18:00 :D15:31
bremnerso, I'm back to debugging pocket reform wifi. I don't know what changed, but I'm now seeing bad behaviour (long delays) on both APs. Looking at wavemon, I see surprisingly high TX retry (>125%). Does that ring a bell for anyone?15:43
chorcbremner: do you see any minstrel errors in dmesg?15:44
bremnerThat looks bad, but only once: UBSAN: array-index-out-of-bounds in /build/reproducible-path/linux-6.14.6/net/mac80211/rc80211_minstrel_ht.c:409:3315:45
chorcyep, same here; I'm wondering, minstrel implements certain rate adaptation algorithm, what's happening after it fails15:55
chorcdurin boot this appears in dmesg: ieee80211 phy0: Selected rate control algorithm 'minstrel_ht'15:59
chorcnothing about rate control after minstrel call trace15:59
minuteis this control algorithm configurable?16:06
