digitalraneah excellent, I may have worked out why I'm having trouble with display bringup on imx8mq under nixos. My display doesn't seem to work on the stock images either, which would explain a lot.07:16

anzuHi, I'm trying to move my boot partition including u-boot from the sd card to emmc on A311D. I ran reform-emmc-bootstrap, I also ran reform-flash-uboot, and when running lsblk, it looks like that /dev/mmcblk1p1 is mounted on /boot.18:59
anzuHowever, when I remove the sdcard, the display remains black, and when I enter the sdcard, it boots with the outdated linux kernel in the sdcard partition (rather than the newer kernel in the emmc partition)19:00
+ bkeys (~Thunderbi@173.186.16.211)19:29
joschanzu: can you put the output of "sudo reform-check" into a pastebin and post the link?19:30
anzujosch: https://pastebin.com/EWxftc0c19:34
+ franpoli (~fpo@46.252.5.28)19:35
joschokay, some of this output confirms what you are saying: your system has eMMC mounted as /boot but the kernel actually comes from elsewhere (probably first partition on your sd-card)19:37
joschso the question is: why would u-boot ignore the boot.scr, kernel and initrd on your eMMC19:38
joschthe easiest way to find out is to attach a usb uart adapter to see the error message that u-boot will print19:38
joschanzu: we can also perform another experiment -- create a zip file or tarball of what you have in /boot on your eMMC and send it to me. I can then try booting that on my own a311d or see the error message if it fails. :)19:41
anzuSure, if you don't mind.. :) I don't have a usb uart adapter at the moment19:45
