joschminute: I fetched your linux6.13 branch of reform-debian-packages and put it into my 'josch' namespace on source.mnt.re. There is a bug in the reprepro job which is fixed by this commit: https://source.mnt.re/josch/reform-debian-packages/-/commit/0e7394c0d9ddbc337bb36fc108c8d626764be95600:13
joschYou might want to cherry-pick that commit into your linux6.13 branch before you enable the x86 runner00:13
joschWith that commit your branch is all green: https://source.mnt.re/josch/reform-debian-packages/-/pipelines/376900:14

minutejosch: thank you very much! yesterday i had a bit of a short work day ^^10:23
joschminute: in addition to what i wrote already, i opened a new MR where I am collecting some of the commits of your MR and will already merge them into main to fix https://community.mnt.re/t/reform-desktop-full-reform-desktop-minimal/3335/10:24
joschyou then have to rebase your branch on top of main again but that should be easy because it's essentially the same changes10:24
joschthis MR: https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform-debian-packages/-/merge_requests/9710:25
joschit's fixing a release critical bug in flash-kernel where, when you install flash-kernel and the kernel itself at the same time, flash-kernel would not update boot.scr10:25

BoostisBetterminute: do you have any estimate on when the replacement pocket kb and back plate might ship? Not rushing, just trying to gauge how long I'll be down on my Pocket. 14:27
minutejosch: 84 ack if it works (i assume you tested?) i find patches like this harder to read than just the whole file, otoh it's good to see the diff and we should try to upstream some changes later14:28
minutejosch: 89 nak, makes my life harder atm, there are more changes coming14:29
minutejosch: 94 ok if you have tested, in general these make my workflow harder though.14:30
chorcI'm also interested in another pocket keyboard; I'd like to mod mine, but scared of losing warranty, also I'd like to give it a go with standalone version15:02

joschminute: thank you for your ack on 84 and 94. I'll rebase, test again and then merge if nothing broke. My motivation for this is 3-fold a) I was asked on community.mnt.re by maintainers of other distros about the diff of the dts. We don't have a diff but a copy. Shipping a diff instead, apparently makes it easier for other distros (Gentoo or Guix were mentioned in the forum) to maintain their own kernel 17:09
joschb) you already mentioned upstreaming which is probably easier if we not only maintain but also contuously test that a diff works and c) vendoring a copy may hide problems when upstream changes their version of the dts in a way that breaks things. For example, Neil Armstrong changed meson-g12b-bananapi-cm4-mnt-reform2.dts last year and since we just override this file, we will never notice whether that 17:09
joschchange actually breaks things or not.17:09
joschand maybe d) my hope is that by making it "harder" it is a motivation to upstream things instead of carrying them in the MNT repository for several years :)17:11
+ bkeys (~Thunderbi@66.110.201.50)17:12
joschi understand your NACK on 89 as the rk3588 dtb is the one that is undergoing many changes right now and vendoring a copy is easier than managing and rebasing a diff (especially a dts diff is notoriously easy to get applied wrongly because teh context is only opening and closing braces...).17:13
