noamminute: ....found the broken components on my Reform mainboard :D08:15
noamThe barrel jack solder is melted and burned, and D5 and Q17 are broken; I need to pick up the tooling for SMD work, and find replacement parts, and I should be able to fix it :D08:18
noam(or, at least, fix this, and find any problems I missed :)08:18

[tj]does the sysctl firmware for each laptop live in that laptops repo? 10:13
[tj]I think it does10:13
[tj]https://source.mnt.re/reform/pocket-reform/-/tree/main/pocket-reform-sysctl-fw?ref_type=heads10:13
[tj]minute: have you ever looked at the panel brightness with an ldr on the reforms to see how continuous it is? I did this on the pinebook pro and found that the pwm is very visible and I'm pretty sure that was directly related to why my eyes got tired really quickly using it10:46

joschf_: before today i didn't even know what CEC was -- i would've totally missed it and my tv removed would've continued to collect dust if it had not been for a tiny pop-up notice of Kodi at start-up informing me that it had connected to some CEC device21:31
joschyes, it worked out of the box. I just did "apt install kodi" and zero configuration was required21:31
joschright, i had no idea that amlogic chips were to much tied to this use case21:32
joschreally nice21:32
joschi don't think we'll go back to this wonky wireless remote usb keyboard thing we were using21:33
joschoooh i see21:33
joschfunky :)21:34
joschhehe i guess we now have a reform-tv at home now :D21:37
joschf_: so thank you for helping making this possible :)21:38
joschit's always a team effort of course :)21:41
[tj]wooo I built the sysctl firmware on freebsd21:53
