joschwelcome back! i was happy to read that they found your luggage -- what a set-back... :(14:45
minutejosch: yeah, this led to a lot of improvisation!15:06
hramrachThere are also receipt printers that use ink (eg. dor matrix) but the thermal ones are probasbly more common nowadays. It's fairly common thing to use such printer but you may need to be aware of limitations (papwer width) and may need some special way to tell it to cut the paper if it has this feature. As always with printers OS support varies wildly and needs to be researched for specific15:34
hramrachmodels.15:34
hramrachAnother thing to note is that the common thermal paper thechnology is considered somewhat toxic but I don't recall the exact details.15:38
chso is the ink usually15:43
joschwith thermal paper the problem is bisphenols -- if you shop in bio-stores, they usually use bisphenole-free thermo paper while regular supermarkets use the one with15:45

minute[tj]: yes. is that your photo?18:19
minutebtw there is an update to this situation, MPS offered to do failure analysis on actual broken boards/chips that we can send to them18:20
minute[tj]: i tried to apply 32V to the chip and couldn't get it to break on purpose, it's still a bit of a mystery18:21
[tj]Yeah that’s my one18:23
[tj]I’m happy to post it back, I raised an email on Friday,  but know you are just back18:24
[tj]I think the supply said ~15W when it died18:24
[tj]How much hardware do I need to run the system controller stand alone? I have pi2040 and fusb3 as dev boards18:25
minute[tj]: what kind of supply was that? (interesting that it can show wattage)18:32
minute[tj]: it depends, 2040+fusb302 sounds pretty good already, it's also querying the two chips on the charger board (mp2650 and the max one i don't remember the part number off the top of my head)18:33
minute[tj]: and thanks for offering to send it back, that would be great18:34
