joschsevan: so, those are variables from the source code00:19
+ mjw (~mjw@213.246.238.179)00:20
joschsevan: the person who creates a new git tag has to take care to also bump these versions00:20
sevanjosch: ah, i need to bump the revision because it's going to be a new release of firmware00:21
joschsevan: maybe00:22
joschsevan: but i also see that your repository is missing most git tags00:22
sevanjosch: it's quite strange to have to have this set for test runs (a default case which wouldn't result in an error would be good just so the actual unrelated change could land)00:22
joschsevan: i don't understand, can you elaborate?00:23
sevanjosch: sure, why do I have to set this or suffer a hard fail?00:24
joschsevan: you don't have to set this00:25
joschsevan: you are missing git tags00:25
sevanjosch: thanks for trying to help. It's getting late and I'm pretty fried by now.00:26
joschokay00:26
joschit will work once you add the same tags to your repo as in the original00:26
sevanjosch: noted, I'll try and take a look again in a couple of days.00:27
sevanjosch: thanks again.00:29

potatoespotatoeshey josch! I tried to follow instructions to build the kernel directly, but it seems like this script relies on debian devscripts' `chdist` for setup. I'm pretty sure I will run into some more dependency issues based on the linux/build.sh file. I'm just trying to manually apply the linux patches and fix the patch, but I am not 100% sure how to do that and I was wondering if I could ask you about the issue.21:28
joschpotatoespotatoes: feel free to ask me anything you like either here, on the forum or via email21:31
potatoespotatoessorry, just uploading a screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/lka2QKq21:32
joschthough i'm in a phone call for the next ~1 hour or so so i might only respond very delayed or only after that21:32
potatoespotatoesno worries!21:32
potatoespotatoesthe issue I'm having is that it seems like there's a new conditional block / an extra curly brace on the linux-6.12 that I pulled down when applying reform-debian-packages/linux/patches6.12/rk3588-mnt-reform2/0058-wifi-brcmfmac-Add-optional-lpo-clock-enable-support.patch21:33
potatoespotatoes(I've manually applied all of the patches prior to 0058)21:33
joschpotatoespotatoes: you are working with linux tag v6.12?21:34
potatoespotatoesthe failed hunk is in drivers/net/wireless/broadcom/brcm80211/brcmfmac/of.c21:34
potatoespotatoesyes21:34
potatoespotatoesI am just getting the kernel via curl on the release tar.gz21:34
potatoespotatoesso I'm just wondering if you could let me know what that file looks like for you and how I might be able to patch this patch so that everything works : )21:35
potatoespotatoesreally: where this `of21:36
potatoespotatoes`of_node_put` should go21:36
potatoespotatoesOH SNAP I think it just needs to go into the block21:36
potatoespotatoesokay, but yeah, having someone sanity check this might be nice as I do zero kernel hacking on the daily21:37
joschpotatoespotatoes: same here -- i'm just winging it XD21:38
potatoespotatoeslols, well having a spare set of eyes might be nice anyhow, I think I know how to patch this patch now 21:39
joschpotatoespotatoes: the patches in the linux/patches6.12 directory are not prepared to apply cleanly on v6.12 but they are prepared to apply cleanly on linux from the stable branch21:39
joschso sometimes, there are small differences that you have to fix before the patches apply to linus' tree21:39
potatoespotatoesahhhh, okay21:39
potatoespotatoesare these patches from mntreform or from various PRs?21:39
potatoespotatoesyay! it all seems to work21:43

joschthis hit me as well recently!23:01
joschwhat is going on with that?23:01
joschi never saw this thing23:01
minutei had to wait almost 20 minutes at boot until i could use the computer again, pretty unbelievable23:17
minuteit was activated by something pulled in by gnome... maybe i accidentally checked a checkbox in the shut down window or it is automatic sometimes23:18
minuteso now i did > sudo systemctl mask packagekit-offline-update.service23:18
joschi also had to wait ~10 minutes but i had this on debian stable and i have no clue what suddenly activated this23:23
joschaccording to my apt log, packagekit was installed all the time already23:23
