savastengrimmware I am not sure my tweaks are polished enough yet to send upstream. Changes so far in Main.c of the pocket-reform-keyboard-fw are to reduce 500000 to 50000 in line 526 and change "b < 4" to "b < 2" in line 531. This starts the backlight dimming at about 4 min 30 seconds and speeds up the dimming process.03:16

larmequestion: if I need to leave my pocket reform unplugged for maybe a month, is turning of the power standby switch enough or should I also unplug the battery connection?16:17
amospallalarme: I don't know the schematics, but when you buy a Pocket Reform it gets delivered by mail with the switch off and with a good amount of battery. That makes me think the switch completely disconnects the battery.16:37
grimmwareminute, ch: heads up with the new keyboard firmware I accidentally let the battery run out and now I can't turn the device on (OLED isn't lighting up at all)17:11
grimmwareI've reset the power switch a couple of times to no avail17:12
grimmwareoh dear, it doesn't appear to be drawing any power either wtf17:13
grimmwareoh no hang on it is now...17:14
grimmwareokay never mind, I think it might have been failing to start charging with other peripherals attached from 0%17:14

reform28429that sounds too complicated for me. thanks anyways20:36

joschyes23:01
reform26681was wondering if you can help me with my pocket refirm23:01
reform26681reform*23:01
minutereform26681: what's the problem? and which processor do you have in it?23:02
reform26681hold on let me check23:02
reform26681i have the i.mx8m processor23:03
minutereform26681: did you get the pocket reform from crowd supply? ah yeah23:04
reform26681yeah23:04
reform26681crowd supply23:04
reform26681how do i connect an external monitor/display?23:04
minutereform26681: with a micro HDMI to HDMI cable23:04
reform26681i have the cable but no output23:05
minutereform26681: which desktop environment? sway or wayfire?23:05
reform26681wayfire23:05
minutereform26681: is it a 4K monitor?23:06
reform26681no. it is an old Apple monitor23:06
minutereform26681: what's the resolution? something unusual?23:06
reform26681i dont think so. the resolution is something like 640xsomething. nothing too high23:07
minutereform26681: ah so very low... but that has HDMI?!23:07
minutereform26681: do you have any other monitors with HDMI to double check?23:08
reform26681no. i just have the one23:08
minutereform26681: can you tell me the exact model of that monitor?23:09
reform26681i think its being detected because is see the brand and model number but i still get blank output23:09
minutereform26681: and which brand and model number is it?23:09
reform26681apple cinema display23:10
reform26681i installed wdisplaus by the way23:10
reform26681wdisplays*23:10
minutereform26681: wdisplays has the issue that it will make the computer run very slow at first until you go into the hamburger menu and disable "display screen contents" 23:11
minutesorry, "show screen contents"23:11
minutereform26681: does wdisplays show 2 displays?23:11
reform26681yes it does23:12
reform26681it says enabled-but still nothing. also the description says "null" i dont know if that means anything23:12
minuteand if you click on the HDMI display, and select the hamburger menu next to "Size" what kind of resolutions do you get?23:13
reform26681im in the command line interface right now. if i switch to graphical environment i might be discconnected from this chat23:14
reform26681sorry im such a beginner23:14
minutereform26681: you can reconnect to the chat in the graphical environment by opening a terminal, using the shortcut super+enter (super is the mnt logo key)23:14
minutereform26681: so in that terminal you can type reform-chat to get back here)23:14

reform3863hello? im back. the resolution is 640x480 23:16
minutereform3863: that's strange because apple cinema displays have a higher resolution than that23:17
minutereform3863: are you using some HDMI to VGA adapter or does the display have actual HDMI input?23:17
reform3863thats just the lowest resoltion. but there are higher resolutions23:17
minutereform3863: what's the highest one?23:17
reform3863let me check23:17
reform3863ok. 800x600 is the highest resoltution, i think23:18
minutereform3863: i would recommend to try all the resolutions (i.e. select one from the hamburger menu next to Size and then click Apply in the window title bar)23:18
minutereform3863: ok that's weird...23:18
minutereform3863: even the oldest cinema display had 1600 × 1024 resolution according to wikipedia23:19
reform3863perhaps i need to install some drivers?23:19
minutereform3863: no23:19
reform3863ok23:19
minutereform3863: can you answer the question about the cable, does the monitor have a hdmi connector or are you using an adapter?23:19
reform3863yes, i am using an adapter23:20
minutereform3863: that is probably the reason why it doesn't work23:20
reform3863it doesnt work with adapters?23:20
minutereform3863: it's an exotic use case that hasn't been tested23:20
reform3863i see.23:21
minuteso it would require further debugging23:21
reform3863oh well. perhaps i will try another monitor in the future23:21
reform3863thank you for your help23:21
minutereform3863: thanks! most contemporary TVs have a HDMI input23:21
reform3863yes, i will try my tv it has an hdmi connection but it is heavy. for now, i shall take a break23:22
