sevandisconnected the left battery back and running with just the 4 cells on the right. System is trying to charge them but battery status on the keyboard display shows some cells at 0.0 and others jumping all over. Right now one is alternating between 3.6, 2.7, 1.1 :)00:58

BoostisBetterjosch: it happens to the best of us. No worries! 10:36
joschit happens to me because i barely feel anything on my hands and sometimes i accidentally press keys because i don't notice that i press them... :(11:45
joschbut mechanical keyboards are *much* better at preventing this than the usual laptop keyboards...11:45
BoostisBetterjosch: nothing to apologize for. Hope you are having  a rad Saturday thus far.11:47

ericsfraga(from my experience) because they require actual pressure instead of just a light touch like some keyboards.13:48
ericsfragapressure == movement13:48
BoostisBetteragreed. It hasd to do with the positive pressure need to actuate the switch. 13:49
ericsfragathe lack of requiring actual pressure is why I hate tablet/phone interfaces. too easy to press the wrong thing, especially as one gets older with less steady hands.13:50
+ bkeys (~Thunderbi@172.13.200.151)14:03
joschminute: finger movement is connected with tendons that go even further up than your wrists14:14
BoostisBetterI have to use a rubber dome based keybaord at work, and I can just tell ya, that I really notice the difference. Mechanical switches are just way better. The quality is just there. When you consider that a keyboard is similar to a saddle that you would put on a horse, then it makes sense that you would really care about your kb. 14:14
joschso the longer my fingers travel to "press" a key, the more i feel it in other parts of my body: i.e. along my wrist and lower arm14:14
minutejosch: oooh i see, thanks for the explanation!14:17
minuteericsfraga: makes sense14:17
joschminute: i guess bad news for those who had hoped for the halo-90 for christmas?14:20
minutejosch: well it depends. anri (paul) has prepared everything for the online shop incl photos but i had to put him on the nitty-gritty of the next campaign before he could get to finish putting everything online14:22
minutethe next campaign is kind of existential for us so unfortunately it disrupts a lot of our other activity14:22
joschah i see14:24
joschno worries, better get the reform next going as quickly as possible :)14:24
minutewe're also bringing back MNT hoodies (actually a new version, actually 2 new versions: black logo print and white logo print)14:41

joschthe t-shirt i have is really nice -- the fabric feels good on the skin :)15:30
BoostisBetterminute: good work! Nice design on the hoodie as well. Understated is best IMHO.15:30
sevansort of fixed the KEY_H help showing and causing jitters by changing what $soc_power_on is initialised to & the test for showing it, I can now reset the keyboard without running into the issue. Now have a new case to deal with, turning off the laptop, then issuing the keyboard reset. The help menu then doesn't appear as the system hasn't been turned on/off of $soc_power_on to change. Will take a look to 15:37
sevansee if remote_get_power_state() could query the LPC to check if it's on or not, tonight.15:37
minutesevan: ah, you're looking into that issue. very useful15:45

minute(i did this all on the pocket connected to my dell u2724de monitor and mnt reform keyboard btw)22:38

BoostisBetterminute: do you know what your wpm is on your pocket? Just curious23:03
BoostisBetterI can normally type around 125 wpm, and the fastest I have been with 100% accuracy is 11723:08
BoostisBetterSo I am feeling that things are going really well on that front, and I am just working on accuracy at the moment. 23:08
+ colinsane (~colinunin@97-113-142-203.tukw.qwest.net)23:08
sevannot sure if this will work but will attempt to extend the LPC firmware to add a new command which returns the $som_is_powered boolean, keyboard firmware can the just issue this command rather than maintain its own state about power. 23:11
minutesevan: hmm i think there is already something for that, maybe it doesn't work right?23:14
minutebecause battery info screen can show the power state (on/off) and iirc that comes from lpc23:15
sevanminute: let me take a look at the 'b' command in the keyboard firmware.23:21
- bkeys (QUIT: Ping timeout: 252 seconds) (~Thunderbi@172.13.200.151)23:23
sevanminute: in remote_get_voltages() https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform/-/blob/master/reform2-keyboard4-fw/src/remote.c?ref_type=heads#L233 ?23:23
minutesevan: ah yes, so at offset 44 in the string there's P0 or P123:25
sevanminute: have remote_get_power_state() also issue the 'c' command to lpc, move the logic for checking in the board is on out of remote_get_voltages() into remote_get_power_state() and call it within remote_get_voltages() when dealing with displaying the info?23:39
sevanminute: n/m, I'll play around first and see what's what. Saves on mental bandwidth & typing :) 23:41
