grimmwareI've got the sysctl printing data from the accelerometer on the qwiic port!14:48
grimmwareI need to figure out how to get it to read like, once every second instead of just spamming data14:54
minutegrimmware: maybe you can peruse some counter in the main loop14:55
grimmwareminute: is there already something in that loop that happens once every n(ish) seconds that I can look at and reuse?15:03
grimmware(off the top of your head, if not I can figure something out)15:03
+ mjw (~mjw@vpn-konference.ms.mff.cuni.cz)15:04
grimmwareoh never mind I can see my bug15:05
grimmwarethere we go, much better15:06
grimmwareCool well I guess I just need some double-sided electrical tape to mount it now and then I can take a stab at changing the address on the second one, chaining it and having them both output!15:07
minuteneat15:08
grimmwarejeez that was a lot easier than expected using the pico examples (there was already one for the sensor) and the schematics (to correct for pins)15:12
grimmwareokay gonna put a pin in this and head out for a bit15:13
grimmwareHmm, I don’t fancy my chances of getting a qwiic cable through those hinges15:24
minutegrimmware: it recently occured to me that one could also make a version of the oled pcb with such a connector, as that is also i2c15:44
minutei mean, chain stuff after the oled15:44
grimmwareOh that’s a really nice idea!15:47

grimmwareNice, `tio` has a `-S` option which tees to a unix domain socket so that you can easily multiplex a bunch of listeners on the same serial device - should be useful for monitoring data coming out of the system controller20:11

grimmwareokay, I have rudimentary lid open/closed detection working. It requires that you pocket is on a flat surface currently because I'm going to need to do a bit more work to get the second accelerometer in the bottom half20:51
grimmwarebut hey, it works!20:51
josch\o/20:51
andypiperoh that's cool! via a qwiic sensor or two20:52
grimmwareyeah, it was actually ridiculously easy20:55

grimmwareI think what minute suggested about making an OLED board with a qwiic connector on is a really good idea as that will save me trying to run another cable through the hinge - I really don't think there's space21:08
grimmwarewhich I guess means I need to fire up KiCad :P21:09
grimmwarethat is not a today problem21:09
chwhats your oled project?21:10
grimmwareit's not really anything to do with the OLED, it's just that the OLED board would be really easy to modify and fab to add a qwiic connector in the bottom half because it's already talking i2c and it can just be daisy-chained. I need another in the bottom half because I'm using accelerometers to determine whether the lid is closed and with one you can only tell if the lid is closed when it's on a flat surface21:12
