robintruck, you probably know of them but pi engineering/xkeys.com/formerly CST has some interesting billiard-ball compatible trackballs, not open hardware but quite moddable and with libre supporting software on gnu/linux07:45
robinhttps://xkeys.com/products/trackballs/l-tracs.html (they also have a funky "x-keys trackball" that combines a trackball and a macro pad...)07:47
robinthe ergonomics are maybe questionable but it'd probably work well for tall keyboards like kinesises07:48
robinploopy's product line looks much more interesting than last time i checked, though. is the ploopy adept the billiard-ball compatible one?07:49
robinapparently yes https://ploopy.co/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/MG_0192-scaled-e1695733263215.jpg :)07:53

vkoskivThat website has pretty aggressive cookie popups :D10:06
vkoskivIt then 404'd, and redirected to some page that I assume to be a paywall10:06
vkoskivOh, I see the joke now :D10:08
joschvkoskiv: feel free to use my searx proxy for the first link: https://morty.mister-muffin.de/?mortyurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.heise.de%2Fnews%2FMedion-bringt-14-Zoll-Notebook-mit-Copilot-und-ARM-Prozessor-Snapdragon-X-Elite-9758340.html&mortyhash=c9105c93393bc63b5f08e1d31a812ac0338d0b69e6ec01a841a5e4b40d43196710:08

vkoskivHow exciting! Copilot buttons on keyboards, innovation!10:09
vkoskivIt's cool that that kind of thing is totally doable on the Reform too. Just add a menu item to the keyboard that sends a keystroke which then invokes a script that, I dunno, uploads ~ to some server somewhere for some reason?10:12
joschthere are things like gpt4all which supposedly do it locally10:15
+ gustav28 (~gustav@78.82.53.191)10:16
vkoskivI've been playing around with llamafiles myself, nifty thing.10:54
vkoskivI wrote a bash script that scans my "old pics" folder and lists images that contain a thing I'm looking for.10:55
vkoskivSo I can feed inputs to the model both in text and images, and then restrict the output with a BNF grammar so it doesn't output anything unexpected, and then I can use the output as a true/false, for example.10:57
vkoskivRuns quite fast on my old GTX 1070.10:57
joschvkoskiv: performance is probably horrible without a graphics card?10:58
vkoskivSlower, but it does run pretty well even on a CPU10:58
vkoskivThey made the observation that the model files are sparse, so it plays really nicely with mmap(), so memory use is lower than one would expect as well.10:59
