joschkhm: where do you want to have your /boot?06:44
joschon the sd-card or on emmc?06:44
joschdepending on the answer you could either use reform-setup-encrypted-nvme directly with a change to DEV_SSD (change that to your sd-card device)06:46
joschor you let yourself get inspired by what that script does06:46

Twodisbetterminute: I read in a Reform article that you mentioned watching Netflix and that it was possible to do on the Reform. Care to detail how we can get the software needed for that? 13:23
joschpocket reform problem for a user who has their rootfs on SSD but the display does not turn on. Here is the last line of dmesg:13:57
josch[   17.508973] platform 32fc6000.display-controller: deferred probe pending: imx-lcdif: Cannot connect bridge13:57
joschfull log at https://community.mnt.re/t/error-creating-encrypted-ssd-migrating/2107/2613:57
joschand there are a few other errors like:13:58
josch[   17.391860] platform 32ec0000.blk-ctrl: deferred probe pending: imx8m-blk-ctrl: failed to get noc entries13:58
josch [   17.440657] platform 30830000.spi: deferred probe pending: spi_imx: can't get the TX DMA channel!13:58
joschin any case, this is nothing i can be of help, so i'm forwarding this to people of this channel :)13:58

khmjosch: thanks, making progress.  I have another question:  in the boot.scr that ships with the debian image, it loops (for pathprefix in ${fk_image_locations}) -- and fk_image_locations is set by default to $prefix -- how can I find what $prefix value is being passed into the script?23:52
khmI'm working to modify the boot script so that it detects bootable kernels (as it currently does) and puts them in a bootmenu23:52
joschkhm: you might want to switch to extlinux.conf23:52
joschwhich in debian gets auto-generated by the package u-boot-menu23:53
joschand it then gives you exactly that23:53
joscha menu where you can choose with your keyboard which of the installed kernels you want to boot23:53
khmwell, I'm also modifying it to be able to load plan 9 from the nvme :)23:53
joschyou can tell u-boot-menu to have some static entries which could be your plan9 entry23:54
joschand to answer your initial question: dump the u-boot environment and you'll see the logic which fills the ${prefix} variable23:56
khmby 'dump the u-boot environment' do you mean with e.g. printenv?23:58
joschyes23:58
joschyou will see a bunch of variables containing u-boot shell scripts which loop through the enabled devices and partitions, calling into boot.scr or extlinux.conf as they are found to be available23:59
