minutejosch: certainly an oversight on my part... i will check how we can mention this in the manual in a meaningful way00:05
+ mjw (~mjw@gnu.wildebeest.org)00:20
joschminute: maybe it's already sufficient to explicitly say "with the protected battery boards" and just not document the unprotected ones as they should not be used anymore.00:46

joschminute: yesterday you linked this for imx8mp on reform2: https://github.com/boundarydevices/u-boot/tree/boundary-v2022.04/board/boundary/nitrogen8mp07:19
joschminute: seems our boundary fork doesn't have support for it: https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform-boundary-uboot/-/tree/master/board/boundary?ref_type=heads07:19

joschminute: would you like me to rebase https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform-debian-packages/-/merge_requests/25 onto linux 6.7 on current main branch so that it can get merged?10:56

joschthat CONFIG_DRM must become a built-in is a bit of a shame because for imx8mq we were able to enable most of the modules (except candence of course) in the Debian linux packaging itself but setting CONFIG_DRM=y is probably not going to happen10:57
joschalso, did you manage to try out the rk3588 kernels i built to attempt and figure out what makes your system not boot?10:58

minutejosch: about config_drm, we can do another trial run with only that change. in any case if is a bug that i expect to get fixed12:00
joschyup, fingers crossed :)12:01

mtmminute: is there a way to order both the RCORE and the camera at the same time to save on shipping?  I know they're both multipe months out on delivery but there seems to bo no option to put in an order for the camera at the moment.15:05
mtmhmm, actually the camera seems to have now completely disappeared from the shop; new version in the works?15:10
mtmonce they're available again I was thinking about hacking it to include a hardware power switch or maybe a hardware latching "on the air" light with a push button reset. 15:14
joschi can still see it here https://shop.mntre.com/products/mnt-reform-camera?taxon_id=1315:16
mtmah, your'e right.  The direct link works, it just doesn't show up in the list of 'All Products' or in search15:20
mtmbut still can't add it to the cart with the RCORE...15:21

hramrachjosch: you probably need DRM=y for simpledrm. there is an ongoing effort to get rid of FB which is broken, the replacement required DRM for efi and of framebuffers that need to be built-in16:56
hramrachI use parcellite as clipboard manager with X11, don't know if it works with Wayland, only gave it as an example of such manager16:58

digitalrayneit's cool you were able to build the instructions like a normal lego instruction booklet erle :)23:05
erledigitalrayne they are not exactly like a normal booklet because the thing is not projected in an isometric way23:05
erledigitalrayne but there is a trick! simply using a very narrow field of view and large render distance makes it almost-isometric23:06
erleyou can use the same trick to turn 0ad into an age-of-empires lookalike23:06
digitalrayneoh yeah i just looked at a lego instruction booklet and the renders side by side and I see what you mean, but it's really close!23:07
erlewell so far i just didn't bother with it23:08
erlebut yes, the idea was to have that :)23:08
digitalraynei think the case sources for the standalone keyboard are not open source right? if it was you could get a new keyboard bottom CNC'd with lego interlocks on the bottom :)23:09
joschdigitalrayne: on the shop page, the keyboard is advertised with "Open Hardware" and "All sources public" so I'd be surprised if the case itself was not available somewhere -- but i'm unable to find it...23:16
digitalrayneso many projects and not enough time in the week i suspect :)23:24
+ S0rin (~S0rin@user/s0rin)23:25
digitalraynebut yeah i had a little look around as well, the pcb, firmware, lettering, all of it is there, just seems not the cnc'd case ¯\_(ツ)_/¯23:26
digitalraynein the past when i've built kbs, i've just 3d printed very simple mounts for them to keep them a few millimeters away from the potentially-metal bit of detritus on my desk23:27
digitalrayne*bits23:27
digitalraynei might try to the same with the kb23:27
digitalrayne*try the, jeez i need some more kaffe23:28
digitalraynei was thinking of adding some hotswap sockets to my reform kb too, kailh have a _lot_ of different choc switches now, could be fun to try a few different ones23:28
erledigitalrayne lego notches at the bottom would be an interesting idea. have you ever done something with aluminium lego studs?23:43
digitalraynenever! but you could possibly use cnc'd polycarbonate instead of aluminium? i imagine the aluminium would chew up the lego bricks eventually23:48
erlewell right now i am kinda happy with what i got23:49
erlein fact, i made this instruction page because i am so happy with it23:49
erleso i don't *need* any change of case23:49
erledigitalrayne did you see the lego mnt reform logo i have on mine?23:49
erledigitalrayne if not: reform-lego.jpg https://mister-muffin.de/p/ulwu.jpg23:50
digitalraynehaha i had not seen that! that's really cool23:51
erleso lego has this product named “dots” and as part of that they sold glue-on and sew-on baseplates23:51
erlei think it is discontinued, so you can prob grab it for cheap *if* you find it23:51
erledigitalrayne it is probably this: https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/adhesive-patch-4195423:53
