f_minute: what's this?00:18
f_Ah ok00:19
f_I'd suggest "Reform Light" for the name TBH.00:19
- vagrantc (QUIT: Quit: leaving) (~vagrant@2600:3c01:e000:21:7:77:0:20)00:23
minuteTwodisbetter: it will share a lot of tech with reform and pocket. it will be rk3588 by default (maybe a311d for a lower cost model)00:41
Twodisbetterminute: nice!00:42
minuteTwodisbetter: it will be trackpad only and emphasize usb-c incl charging. it will still have 18650s00:42
minuteit's a bit of a hybrid of pocket and reform00:42
- Gooberpatrol66 (QUIT: Ping timeout: 260 seconds) (~Gooberpat@user/gooberpatrol66)00:46
Twodisbetterminute: weil the batteries be a flat pack similar to what the pocket will use? 01:14
Twodisbetterminute: will the batteries be a flat pack similar to what the pocket will use? 01:14

jfredOh, still having 18650s is impressive and surprising in that form factor!03:35
jfredLooks very cool03:35
jfredI like that it's getting physical buttons on the trackpad too, in my experience the most usable trackpads I've used have had them03:37

Twodisbetterminute: very nice indeed! So basically no compromises in comparison to the Reform and only improvements. Solid win! 08:13
violethaving a hard time getting display cable into the cm4 module08:30
violetthe back of the falt part of the cable is like, pushing up against a capacitor08:31
violetok i think i got it by just jamming it more08:32

violethttps://tenforward.social/@artemis/111651313036967158 soquartz works without much fight 08:59
violeti need to do the device tree for the display i think 09:00
violeti took my existing quartz64 (SBC, not a module) sd image i already had set up running linux 6.1. Added the generic soquartz cm4 dtb from 6.6.8 (because the earlier one was missing some stuff). plonked it in. there it is09:02
violetfor some reason running the actual 6.6.8 kernel causes it to fail to boot. but thats a separate adventure that im debugging on the blade carrier for it, its not reform related at all09:03

violetoh neat, i think the onboard wifi is working09:19
minuteviolet: awesome!09:19
violetoh ok soft shutdown is also not going all the way09:21
violetthe 5v and 3v3 white LEDs are still lit after a `poweroff` command09:21
minuteviolet: there are 2 ways of how this is done, traditionally we have a script/shutdown hook for systemd that sends the poweroff command to the keyboard via usb raw hid09:31
minuteand there's a newer way of using the reform2_lpc kernel driver if i'm not mistaken09:32
violetah cool09:32
violeti will track down the raw hid then09:33
violeti think i want to get the display working before i get to the lpc driver09:33
violetbecause then i can use it in bed :D09:33
violeti should buy more of these display cables i am pretty sure i am gonna break mine eventually09:35
violet(i am not very good at ribbon cables)09:35
violetwhoaaa i just realized the cm4 adapter instructions unfold into a schematic this is awesome09:37

violetheatsink fits on great. lets see if it thermal throttles :D09:42
minuteviolet: mipi-dsi can be tricky, i hope you'll get it working09:53
violettrackball isnt working for some reason09:56
violetno libinput events from it or its buttons09:56
violetwonder if i messed up a wire09:56
minuteviolet: but it gets detected correctly?09:57
minutemaybe it has older firmware?09:57
violetidk, what does it show up as?09:57
minutemnt reform trackball in lsusb -v09:57
minutedoes it habe brown or clicky white buttons?09:57
violetbrown09:58
violetand no it doesnt show up in lsusb, only the keyboard does09:58
minuteok so older model. i would say update fw09:58
minuteif you switch to programming mode (dip sw on trackball and then reset button on trackball), does it show up?09:58
minuteas atmel dfu loader 09:58
violetyup10:00
violetoh also for some reason my nvme drive is not showing up right. pcie is working right i know though because the atheros wifi was showing up in lspci before i took it out to put the nvme in with the miniPCIe adapter10:02
minuteviolet: could be pcie reset issue. what nvme brand? do you have another nvme to try?10:06

violetwhich does work fine with it in the blade carrier 10:11
violetbut yeah i can try another drive10:11
violetlater though. i am starting an install of the avr toolchain and going to sleep. tomorrow ill update the trackball firmware and see if that fixes things there 10:12
violetoh wow the soquartz dtsi has stubs for all the i2c/i2s/spi , with comments for which module pins they are!10:18

joschUPS tries to be difficult yet again... tracking says that it's already in the local facility but will only be delivered tomorrow. Fair enough. But there is a button that says i can pick up the parcel personally today! I click the button but get an error message. So I just bike to the local UPS facility and ask about the shipment. They tell me that it's in the delivery vehicle and will be delivered 13:07
joschtoday. Okay, so i bike home and check tracking again. Indeed it says that it will arrive between 8:20 and 10:20. At 11:30 there is still no sight of it, so I leave the house for a bit. I come back at 12:00 and have a UPS slip about a failed delivery attempt in my postbox... sigh...13:07
minuteooooof13:15
joschclassic :) UPS never works out for me it seems XD13:22
sknebelMy local ups people always just put the thing in a pickup store location at the beginning of their shift... Which is really not the point of a delivery service, but at least it means I can pick it up quickly đŸ™„14:12
q66minute: so where is the assembly actually supposed to be then14:32
q66i tried looking for y'all a bit but didn't find you :P14:32
jagtalonhi all! i'm considering getting a reform, but i'm curious if waydroid is able to run on it? have people here had success with it?15:36
- XYZ (QUIT: Remote host closed the connection) (~XYZ@78-80-113-209.customers.tmcz.cz)15:38
joschjagtalon: i had it "running" but the application i wanted to run on it didn't work15:52
joschjagtalon: but i had it show the main screen and stuff15:52

joschjagtalon: are you running waydroid on another platform already?15:52
jagtalonjosch: ah nice! yea i have it running on amd64 fedora and it works so well that i'm hoping it would work well on the mnt too15:57
blueriseminute: the assembly is nicely quiet so far ;)15:57

joschuh unteresting! i haven't heard of somebody using the big reform with the imx8mplus yet :D16:47
joschthe imx8mq is a bit on the slower side, so it always took a few seconds of waiting with wayland until things happened16:48
jagtalonjosch: oh sorry for the misunderstanding i'm planning on getting the pocket!16:48
joschoooooh16:48
joschwell, what i said should still apply :)16:48
jagtalonjosch: nice ok i guess i'll just have to see for myself haha. i don't *need* waydroid but it's nice to have familiar apps accessible on there 16:49
jagtalonespecially on that device! đŸ¤©16:50
joschi'm sure there exist quite a few android apps that would make sense to have on a small mobile device like the pocket reform :)16:50

Twodisbetterdoes anyone know of a 3d print shop that does professional printing? I am printing something but because of the size of my printer having to glue parts together and it sucks. I am wondering if there any print farms in Germany that are good and have a fast turn around?19:24
