joschminute: what is your opinion on adding the package gvfs-backends to reform-system-image? The package is 328 kB small and the system image already installs thunar and gvfs. With the gvfs-backends package, plugging in a digital camera or android smartphone will automatically allow copying files from them to the reform via gphoto2 or mtp.12:06
+ jacobk (~quassel@64.189.201.150)12:11
minutejosch: ohhh. sure, that sounds useful12:21
minutetoday i have to look into neo2 firmware for kbdv312:21
joschminute: i'll not use the stock firmware anyways -- i have some local modifications around the spacebar keys12:22
minutejosch: yeah, but we need to ship something that is not totally wrong :D12:23
joschokay :)12:23
joschjust saying that if i'm the only neo2 user, you don't need to do extra work for me :)12:23
minuteoh, looks like i had done this already12:23
minutejosch: you're not the only one!12:23
joschuh! :)12:24
minutethere's currently another open order with neo212:24
minutein total there are at least 4 distinct people with neo2 layouts :D12:25
minuteok so currently there is: #ifdef KBD_VARIANT_NEO212:25
minute  matrix[KBD_COLS*3+0]=HID_KEYBOARD_SC_CAPS_LOCK; // M312:25
minute  matrix[KBD_COLS*2+13]=KEY_ENTER;12:25
minute  matrix[KBD_COLS*3+13]=KEY_BACKSLASH_AND_PIPE; // M312:25
minutei believe this is correct12:27
minute(there is one non-existing/skipped key in row 4 on the v3 keyboard, it was there on v2 next to ctrl)12:28
joschthat's how it is configured with v2 as well i think12:28
joschoh12:28
joschisn't ctrl on row 5 (the bottom-most row)?12:29
joschthe unused key is because there are now 3 spacebar keys and not for, right?12:29
josch*four12:29
minuteyeah, the changes need to be extended12:29
minutedoes alt normally become M4 on neo2?12:30
minuteah no, altgr becomes m412:31
josch(i cannot remember the last time i wanted to use anything beyond layer 3)12:39
minuteoh interesting12:46
minutehmm i have trouble activating neo2 on my desktop pc12:49
minutesetxkbmap neo doesn't work in xterm (setxkbmap de works, for example)12:51
minuteah, setxkbmap de neo -option12:52
minuteleft m3 stays caps lock for some reason. do you use a tool to remap that separately, normally?12:53
minutewell, i guess it was like that before, so it shall be like that12:56
minutejosch: https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform/-/merge_requests/6213:02
joschminute: I'm using neo2 by having XKBLAYOUT="de" and XKBVARIANT="neo" in my /etc/default/keyboard13:33
joschno, i never messed around with m3/capslock13:33

hramrachthere is an option to remap keys for all layouts in udev as well16:57
hramrachhttps://paste.debian.net/1301097/17:00
joschunfortunately, the hwdb method does not work for me (and thus i have to build my own keyboard firmware) because the keys i want to remap all send the same key id (space bar)17:59
joschand it seems there is no way to have them be be different scancodes but still be space by default (without any custom mapping)18:00
