jfredHm, I finally swapped to the a311d module - booted from a fresh sysimage v4 which came up fine, but the trackball doesn't seem to be connecting properly. It does flash twice on boot and I see some USB errors; will grab dmesg logs after I dig up a mouse00:07
jfredOh that's odd, I only have lo and end0 interfaces too... that's surprising since the a311d module has onboard wifi 🤔00:20
jfredAh, should've checked the forum - that one's already known00:24
jfredWait, no - firmware-realtek package is already installed00:28

minutejfred: try reboot01:46
minutejfred: oh and update trackball firmware, known issue with old trackball fw01:47
minutejfred: for wifi, the sdio sometimes throws errors on cold boot (can see it in dmesg | grep -i sdio)01:47
jfredminute: Aha, you were right about the wifi issue, I'd booted a couple times but all my previous boots had been cold boots. `reboot` from a running system did the trick and I'm on wifi now01:53
jfredack re: trackball firmware, will update that shortly01:54
jfredTrying to get my old OS image working with this new hardware seems to be tricky heh. Wish I could see u-boot output on the display02:06
jfredMight need to go dig out a serial cable02:06
jfredgotta say, a311d is impressively fast though02:06

ehenterminute: Any idea why USBs don't work at all when I start my reform quickly after power off? I get xhci-hcd xhci-hcd.0.auto: Error while assigning device slot ID: Command Aborted". Full serial output: https://pastebin.com/HUdifpJj I have LS1028A module.14:17
ehenterSometimes USB starts working when I just keep shutting reform down and starting it up few times. But then I might get same error after boot is completed. Sometimes USB port next to HDMI port isn't working.14:18
ehenterAnother error I have seen few times getting spammed a lot during early boot is: "xhci-hcd xhci-hcd.0.auto: ERROR: unexpected setup address command completion code 0x11."; "usb 2-1: device not accepting address 2, error -22"; "usb usb2-port1: attemp power cycle". <-- Address number in second message changes for every error message.14:18
ehenterBut USB works every time without ANY issues when I do first cold boot after reform has been off for long time. At least long enough that keyboard screen prints "Waking up LPC..".14:18

joscheibachd: i now know a bit more15:15
joschto build the rt kernel, look into debian/config/defines15:16
joschin [featureset-rt_base] it currently says enabled: false15:16
joschthis is why you do not currently get an rt kernel15:16
joschbut you cannot just set it to true either15:16
joschbecause for that, the rt-kernel patch-set has to be ported to 6.5 first15:16
joschthis has not happened yet so you coulud either do the work and rebase the patch set15:16
joschor you could build an older kernel like 6.115:17
eibachdjosch: Ok, thanks for the investigation. O guess I will wait for the port then.15:17

Boostisbetterare you talking about the cmdline in grub? 19:08
Boostisbetterahh sorry, you mean why compiling it. 19:08
minuteehenter: i have seen this issue and that's why there is a workaround in /sbin/reform-hw-setup. it removes and reloads the dwc3 usb driver. if you do that another time, does it help?19:15

ehenterminute: ah okay, thanks. I will try that if that issue appears again.19:55

+ S0rin (~S0rin@user/s0rin)19:56
ehenterBut I guess that there is nothing I can do during early boot to fix that? That issue causes keyboard to not attach and I can't write write my passphrase to unlock encrypted SSD19:57
ehenterOr maybe I should include luks keyfile in SD card and unlock encrypted partition with that instead of passphrase :D19:57

joschehenter: that file is created automatically on kernel upgrades by the flash-kernel tool21:49
