violet | been using the reform as our primary laptop for the past week btw without issue, pretty nice! the low cpu perf is less of an issue than expected for most things honestly | 04:53 |
---|---|---|
violet | its been very hot and doing everything we can to reduce load on the already overloaded air conditioner- efficiency arm cores definitely does the trick | 04:54 |

minute | so far reform is also surviving fine in the "harsh" cccamp environment ^^ | 09:02 |
Boostisbetter | yeah that is one thing about the Reform. It is durable and its efficiency mean that things like heat are minimized there. I have a desktop that puts out a ton of heat in the Summer. With the Reform or the L5 I minimize heat while still doing all the computing I need. In the absence of AC here in Germany, this is crucial stuff. | 09:49 |
+ andreas-e (~Andreas@2001:861:c4:f2f0::c64) | 09:52 | |
Boostisbetter | speaking of the L5 though with regard to heat. I do wonder how the display and other components can handle on the long term the phone basically running at 45-55C all the time. | 10:18 |

sevan | Regarding the keyboard with the older microcontroller, what is it that it doesn't like about a system that's plugged into the charger and left switched off. | 18:15 |
sevan | left my reform connected to the charger over night & just tried to switch it on, but keyboard was not responding. disconnect/reconnect battery, system is fine. Keyboard definitely doesn't like the system being charged whilst it is switched off (this issue occurs) | 18:17 |
sigrid | I have an older mc, I believe, and I have no issues | 18:18 |
sigrid | this is literally what I do every day before going to bed: power off and leave charging | 18:18 |
sigrid | I have all firmwares updated to latest | 18:19 |
sevan | sigrid: ack | 18:19 |
sevan | I'm still happy with the machine, just don't understand what's going on. | 18:25 |
sigrid | your fws all up to date? | 18:25 |
sigrid | keyboard dip switch not in programming position? | 18:26 |
sevan | as of a couple of weeks ago | 18:26 |
sevan | definitely not in programming position as it is usable | 18:26 |
sevan | (when it works :) ) | 18:26 |
sigrid | heh | 18:27 |
sigrid | so when you press and hold (for good 5 seconds) the circle key, nothing at all happens? | 18:28 |
sevan | yeah, and usually it responds way before that when it's functional. | 18:29 |
sevan | more than a second, less than two | 18:30 |
sigrid | I wonder if it'd work if you reset the keyboard | 18:32 |
+ TerminalPanic (~term@5.13.169.217.in-addr.arpa) | 18:33 | |
sevan | hmm, I'll make a not to try it next time it happens | 18:33 |
sigrid | 1) reset the keyboard, see if it helps 2) reset the lpc, see if it helps | 18:34 |
sigrid | maybe it will happen to narrow down what is not working | 18:34 |
sevan | ack | 18:34 |
sigrid | imo it's lpc not the keyboard, but that's just like my opinion | 18:35 |
sevan | I guess the LPC is working since D8 LED is lighting up? | 18:35 |
sevan | a couple of weeks ago I ran into the issue with the keyboard microcontroller forgetting its firmware which reflashing restored all functionality. I'm thinking the issue is on the keyboard side. | 18:37 |
sevan | that was the first time it has forgotten the firmware. | 18:37 |
sigrid | that d8 is connected to the charger/booster though | 18:38 |
sevan | ok | 18:38 |
sevan | is booster just another term for charger/psu? | 18:39 |
+ ajr (uid609314@user/ajr) | 18:44 | |
sevan | thanks for the pointer sigrid, I'll try and recreate the issue again and see if resetting the keyboard works. | 18:46 |

IchikaZou | Will normal usb-c to 3.5 jack adapter for android phone work on pocket reform? | 20:50 |
Boostisbetter | Do you run Linux at home on a computer? Have you ever tried plugging it in? My guess is that the driver for that has been upstreamed and it should work. | 21:11 |
