minutesigrid: oh, that's awesome!!00:23
joschvagrantc: did you already upload to unstable (is this wise during the freeze?) or should i apply your flask-kernel patch instead?00:35
joschvagrantc: minute agreed that it would be nice to ship your mnt-reform-firmware package in the mnt repository -- what do you think is missing? could it be updated with current firmware including the rp2040 versions?00:38
joschminute: there is still the open issue of versioning and tagging the firmware00:39
joschrelated: the firmware version shown in the OLED menu is still not really useful as it's outdated00:40
joschand changelogs showing the important changes from version to version would also be nice :)00:41
vagrantcjosch: i have local evidence that i uploaded flash-kernel to unstable ... but cannot find what happened to it. :/00:41
vagrantcbecause the firmwares are all in on monorepo, it is a bit annoying to merge ... as i removed "irrelevent" files, i presume there will be lots of conflicts.00:46
vagrantcbut yeah, it shouldn't be terribly hard to update00:47
vagrantcideally the firmwares would be kept in a separate git repo for each firmware00:47
vagrantc(at least from my perspective)00:47
joschthe way things are now it probably makes sense to have one top-level changelog that lists changes for each of the parts included upon each new version?00:49
joschdisadvantage is of course that there then will be bumps in, for example, the keyboard firmware version without any changes...00:50
minutejosch: i guess we should start filing some tickets for firmware and versioning improvements00:51

vagrantcACTION found the flash-kernel upload did actually land ...00:55

- andreas-e (QUIT: Quit: Leaving) (~Andreas@2001:861:c4:f2f0::c64)00:59
ex-parrotI'm still keen to eventually buy a new bottom plastic case for my reform 01:00
ex-parrotand some other parts01:00
vagrantcheh. i have local patches for my own keyboard layout on the keyboard firmware...01:06
joschvagrantc: for swapping keys around or for other reasons?01:08
vagrantcjust swapping around keys01:08
joschvagrantc: same here but i should probably switch to udev/evdev remapping instead so that i can use the stock firmware01:10
vagrantcdon't even know how to do that :)01:11
vagrantcbut yeah ... default firwmare is generally for the best :)01:11
vagrantcfor the curious, my layout patch is https://paste.debian.net/1277879 01:11
vagrantcbasically al keys on either side of the spacebar, pgup/pgdn in the middle of the spacebar ... and a mixed result switching the compose key to a control key01:12
vagrantcand making hyper another control01:13
vagrantcalt keys on outside of keyboard, that is ...01:13
joschhere is mine which turns the left spacebar into "return" and puts backspace into the middle https://paste.debian.net/hidden/8b6a7da6/ 01:13
joschi figured out that on normal keyboards i only hit the spacebar with my right thumb, so doing something with the left part of a split-spacebar was necessary and i hit enter quite a few times to make it useful not having to leave the homerow for it and hit it with a better finger than my pinky :)01:14
vagrantcyeah, that is interesting01:14
vagrantcACTION is a heavy right spacebar user too01:15
joschvagrantc: my diff reminds me, do you think it makes sense to ship all three variants of the keyboard firmware in the Debian package? That is, KBD_VARIANT_QWERTY_US, KBD_VARIANT_STANDALONE and KBD_VARIANT_NEO2?01:17
vagrantcmakes sense to me.01:18
- ajr (QUIT: Quit: WeeChat 3.8) (~ajr@user/ajr)01:23
joschvagrantc: remapping keys without modifying the firmware: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Map_scancodes_to_keycodes01:30
vagrantcjosch: thanks!01:57
vagrantcso, the trackball2 firmware requires also tinyusb and pico-sdk01:58
vagrantcso ... to package that either need to build packages of each of those, or do some multi-source tarball madness01:59
vagrantcand that is the only firmware related thing added since the last time i build the mnt-reform-firmware .deb packages02:00
vagrantcer, package.02:00

vagrantcalso, i have no idea where to get tinyusb and pico-sdk ... they do not appear to be available on source.mnt.re as their own repositories02:28
vagrantcoh, i misread the instrctions ... you just clone those remote repositories ... to a specific directory. ..02:30
vagrantcACTION was hoping it would be as simple as the other firmwares02:33

Booster[m]This is my matrix instance but it was weird that the other account got axed. Something about cheogram is banned on dronebl but when you go there it says that the server is not banned. 10:17

mjwso we are old-school? :)18:03
sknebellink above already works as replay18:04
minutemjw: i believe so :D18:05
Booster[m]Yeah was watching it. Skipped a lot because I was there for what Lukas had to say not for the host to yammer on continually. Great job minute!18:12
minutethanks! it was supposed to be a chat though were the host would also show off their collection of mini laptops, which were quite interesting to me (i don't know a lot of those)18:16
vkoskivYeah they were really fun to see.18:23
Booster[m]I have a Onemix 3pt very similar to the gpds he was showing. They are brillant but fragile and almost impossible to repair. 18:24
Booster[m]They are the reason I looked into the reform and am so into the pocket reform. 18:24
Booster[m]If you want to see really tiny check out the OQO 01.18:25
Booster[m]Way ahead of its time. 18:25
minuteinteresting18:26
minutei remember big ads for OQO in berlin in 200718:26
Booster[m]Something like the gpd or Onemix that is meant to last and is repairable is my dream device. So the pocket is getting pretty awesomely close. 18:38
