joschOT: do people here have any opinion on feature-phones? I just need phone calls, SMS and an alarm clock. Is there anything foss and/or repairable and/or ethically built you can recommend that is minimalistic and reliable? I was looking at the Mudita Pure or the Punkt MP02. Otherwise it will probably be some random proprietary flip-phone again (my current phone broke...)07:37
vkoskivjosch: 2003 Nokia 1100. Battery lasts forever, it's got a lil flashlight and the firmware is just so nice to use :)07:39
vkoskivI find it hard to believe GSM is going away any time soon in europe. At least in Finland it will still be around for a long time. Lots of infrastructure uses it still.07:40
vkoskivThey are old, so you can buy a few of them used, so no extra pollution07:40
vkoskivVery modular design, you can swap batteries and other parts trivially. Super durable. Tiny.07:41
vkoskivThe SIM holder is designed such that it's fairly easy to clamp a micro/nano SIM in there and it will stay put in the right spot.07:42
vkoskivAnd you can get adapters to fill in the extra space to make that easier too.07:42
joschi don't even have anything other than a regular sim :D07:43
vkoskivI do believe you will enjoy a 1100 then. It is pleasantly minimalist by today's standards.07:46
vkoskivYou can get it in a bunch of colors, too!07:46
vkoskivIt also has Java MIDP support. Not sure what can be done with that, could be a cool project to investigate.07:49
vkoskivI have one myself, and I actually used it as a work phone not too long ago thanks to its ridiculous 400h standby07:49

Boostisbetterminute, what are the big improvements for this iteration of the MB? 16:42
+ chomwitt (~chomwitt@ppp-94-69-24-223.home.otenet.gr)17:01
minuteBoostisbetter: nothing big really, just fixes all known bugs (afaik)17:05
vkoskivBoostisbetter: I wrote about the topic here: https://community.mnt.re/t/diy-v2-5-motherboard-mod/149617:06
vkoskivPondering the feasibility of applying some of the fixes to a 2.0 MB17:06
Boostisbetterthanks minute and vkoskiv 18:29
BoostisbetterGood solid updates, but as vkoskiv puts it nothing that is super crucial, still good nonetheless. 18:30

Ar|stote|ishola! quick question: the pcie for the ssd in the pocket is the same pcie 2 x1 that the bigger brother has, if i'm not mistaken?20:50
minutenew article is out https://www.crowdsupply.com/mnt/pocket-reform/updates/pocket-reform-goes-to-work20:57
minuteAr|stote|is: no, it has only 1x pcie unfortunately20:58
Ar|stote|ispcie v1 x1 lane that equals about 250MB/s right?20:59
minutepcie is gen3 (not sure if reached in practice)21:00
joschnice article by bnys -- reminds me that i have to give the foot terminal a try21:07

Ar|stote|ishm pcie gen 3 x1 is actually about 950MB/s i don't remember those kinds of speed on the big reform that is why i was asking. 21:13
joschvagrantc: we were talking about the naming of the patched reform kernel package a few weeks/months ago. I brought up the topic on #debian-kernel and pinged you.21:13
