joschI just tried my reform with the EcoFlow River 2 Max Power Station, which has two 5.5/2.1 mm barrel jack outputs providing 12.4 V. A double-male barrel jack cable comes with the device and I just plugged in my reform which happily charges its own battery from it. :)11:46

bkeysOh wait, I just used cheogram I didn't bridge xmpp to irc17:30
sevanephase: hi17:37
ephasesomeone here have installed Debian MNT image with encrypted root partition?17:39
ephaseI have a custom installation based on old image (before v3) and plan to update17:40
rahephase: I have encrypted root17:44
rahalthough it wasn't installed so much as copied from the live SD card17:45
ephasedo you have modification on your boot.scr to gime some init parameter to boot from your rootfs?17:46
vkoskivephase: I've heard it might be easier to reinstall and migrate your home dir than to try upgrading a sysv2 installation.17:46
vkoskivI haven't tried though, as I started with an early sysv3 installation myself17:46
ephasevkoskiv: yes I'll go in this direction :D17:47
rahephase: no, no modification to boot.scr was needed17:48
ephaseso need to backup and test it!17:52

ephaseSo, need to backup all stuff on my reform :D17:54
minutesevan: this won't work as the notch is not the only relevant thing, more importantly the pinout has to match and the probability of that is 0%17:57
sevanminute: <3, so you mean we'll have to cut a new notch on the board? ;)18:13
sevanI have the entry level board here from a couple of years back, they use 2 mini-pci connectors side by side for housing the sbc on the expansion board. Not surprised things are not going to match.18:15

joschephase: unfortunately there is no script to convert from pre-v3 to v3. The problem is, that there are too many individual setups to ensure that such a script really doesn't destroy anything in case that the user has made some custom changes. And additionally the number of systems to convert is just too low to get proper test coverage and feedback.18:23
ephasejosch: yes i can imagine, my actual init script is a personnal one write for my needs. I'm backuping all my stuff to do a fresh install18:33
ephaseI have anither question, when my Reform is plugged on AC, CPU is 60-61°C. Is it normal? on battery, i's abour 48-50°C18:34
ephasenow it's 63°18:44
minuteephase: yes. extra heat is from the charger/buck-boost converter 18:46
ephaseok there is no problem :)18:46
minutesevan: if they made a board that plugs in from the top with mezzanine connectors a la cm4, we could make an adapter easily18:46

chartreuseephase: one quick mod you can do is to put a 0.5mm or so thermal pad between the CPU heatsink and the back edge of the case. I find it helps drop a few degrees of heat by coupling the heat outside the case22:10
vkoskivCPU temp shows 66C, I'm compiling and charging the batteries at the same time :D22:12
vkoskiv67C. I think that's the highest I've seen it. The main box is warm all around, which shows that it is radiating the heat out well.22:12
- murdock (QUIT: Ping timeout: 268 seconds) (~murdock@mobile-107-107-60-100.mycingular.net)22:13
chartreuseMy temp is showing consistently on 54C even after starting up a stress load, so might just be an issue I've had before where after a few minutes after booting it stops updating temps22:16
chartreuseBut I found that the thermal pad mod did make the back edge of the laptop heat up faster, but also that the bottom plastic was never as hot as before it, so I think it helps direct heat more outward22:17
