Boostisbetter | I've been really a fan of the umpc class because teh smaller a computer is the more portable it is. Usually when shrinking things done you ruin repairability or durability. I think these are some of the strongest points of the Pocket. | 07:38 |
---|---|---|
Boostisbetter | that said does anyone here know the beest way to deconflict network issues. i'm getting network drops and i think it is because there is more than one network manager being used, but I have no idea on how to fix that . | 09:00 |
Boostisbetter | and in other news, I have to mention that the Reform laptop is a great laptop to work with if you have a broken shoulder. The trackball is just as easy to use with your left as it is with your right. | 09:09 |
josch | i can attest something similar about the trackball: due to my multiple sclerosis i cannot feel my fingers anymore. Using the lenovo tracksticks or any touchpad is very difficult for me because i do not really feel how much my fingers pushed either. It is muuuuuuuch easier for me to use my computer with the trackball and i'm never going to switch back to a touchpad or trackstick. | 09:17 |
josch | Boostisbetter: i would approach that problem in a similar way as many other computer problems: minimize the source of possible errors and then change one thing at a time until you found the culprit. For example I'd first make sure that it's really an issue with the software (and not an issue with the wifi card or the AP) by flashing a vanilla rescue image and checking whether the problem occurs there as | 09:19 |
josch | well or not. | 09:19 |
Boostisbetter | Roger Josch! Thanks! | 09:24 |
Boostisbetter | I found that my mono speaker output is because the solder on a wire came undone. I'm going to fix that real quick. I have a nice soldering setup. Going to be challenging with one hand though, but I'll make it work. | 09:25 |
Boostisbetter | I'm going to get around to just formating my nvme and starting over from scratch on the newest image. That is what I really want. A hassle free update process, etc. | 09:26 |
Boostisbetter | Great work on getting us there. The Reform is a product that just keeps getting better. | 09:26 |
Boostisbetter | minute: have you noticed that Purism is pushing a phosh fix that prevents error on resuming from suspend. Not sure it is worth the effort considering the Reforms pretty consistent performance in that regard but thought I'd mention it anyway. | 09:27 |
Boostisbetter | minute: and also since the pocket can use a cellular modem there work on getting the modem to return from suspend will probably be of interest as well. Although your SBC is newer than the one used in the Reform and Librem 5 so I don't know if it directly relates/translates. | 09:28 |

Boostisbetter | minute: looks like networkmanager.service is not starting. In the logs it complains that the service is trying to restart too quickly (5 times) and so it fails and does not start the service. | 13:28 |
Boostisbetter | Any ideas? | 13:28 |
minute | Boostisbetter: check journalctl -x -u networkmanager.service to see the log! | 13:48 |

Boostisbetter | Very cool. | 14:16 |
Boostisbetter | I set the interface to true for management and that is when it stopped loading. Simply setting it to false then did nothing. I'll keep looking into it. The journal file is long! | 14:17 |
minute | Boostisbetter: ah, you can add the option -f | 14:28 |
minute | i.e. sudo journalctl -x -f -u NetworkManager.service | 14:29 |
minute | this will "follow" the log | 14:29 |
Boostisbetter | Nice! Thank you! | 14:36 |

gsora | Hey all! Question for EU folks who ordered and received a reform from CrowdSupply: did it come from within the EU? Last time I bought something that was handled by Mouser/CS, it came from the Netherlands. The forums seems to suggest otherwise though. | 22:30 |
