BoostisbetterSo to move to sys image v3 I just use etcher to copy it all to my sd card? Does the MNT instructions for setting up nvme use actually prep/erase the nvme contents before copying the data? 13:05
BoostisbetterI really want to get my reform back on baseline. 13:05

Boostisbetterminute, Awww yeah! 16:13
BoostisbetterLooking forward to being able to say the same myself. 16:14
+ truck (truck@shell.suomiscene.fi)16:24
truckright let's get the reform working today, it's been absolutely far too freaking long16:34
truckok the part where it isn't turning on is a bit concerning (:16:49
+ vagrantc (~vagrant@2600:3c01:e000:21:7:77:0:20)16:54
truckminute: sent you a message on fedi.  I will idle here but I'm gonna put it aside for now and not panic (:17:04
truck... I'm a dumbshit.  The power ... ... socket... thing... with a on/off switch... was 'off.'17:06
truckI realized this as I was taking the thing and putting it away. It is 100% fine. I am proceeding.17:06
minutetruck: great!17:26

vagrantcdoes the mnt/reform try to draw a certain wattage off the barrel jack power supply ... e.g. does it draw more amps if the voltage is 12v vs. 24v to come up with the same watts? or does it just draw less wattage on 12v vs. 24v?18:11
vagrantcone of the cells seemed to drop faster than the others ... though i'm not sure it's the same cell as last time.18:13
vagrantchad it running at ~55% and walked away while it was busy for a few minutes, and came back to see it powered off and the oled battery display was in a boot loop with one of the cells down to 2.3v while the others were 3.0-3.1v ... powered it off and after a while it bumped back up to 2.6v18:15
truckI cannot answer that.18:16
vagrantcACTION is happy to wait around for someone who can :)18:19
vagrantcalso forgetting what the upper bound of input voltage is ... i remember it being compatible with my ~24v solar, so at least able to handle 28v ...18:21
joschvagrantc: when my old display shows the overall percentage close to 0%, it's always the same cell that's lowest and which will inevitably go so low that the whole system goes off.18:22
joschvagrantc: https://mntre.com/reform2/handbook/advanced.html#power-rails18:22
vagrantcok, so 9-32v input ... so I can't plug it directly into the solar panels, which might peak 40v ... darn18:26
vagrantchmmm... seems to be drawing ~40 watts with a 26v input, but the oled only claims to be drawing a little over 1 amp charging at 28.97v ~30w ... where's the extra 10 watts going? :)18:35
minutevagrantc: powering the laptop?18:55
minutevagrantc: or is it off?18:55
truckI'm confused, does the power brick not regulate and adapt to the fluctuating current from the solar panel?  (if not, then, well, huh, I thought that was one of the reasons we used these brick things (:  )18:59
Boostisbetterthe power brick is set to make a certain voltage output. It expect the input volume to be sufficient for it to meet the output requirements. If not enough power is coming through it can't magically generate it. The kind fo adapter that is able to convert on a very flexible input costs A LOT more money and is generally outside of the scope of consumer products. 19:03
vagrantcminute: either powered on or off, reading about the same19:03
vagrantcpower brick?19:04
- GNUmoon (QUIT: Remote host closed the connection) (~GNUmoon@gateway/tor-sasl/gnumoon)19:14
+ GNUmoon (~GNUmoon@gateway/tor-sasl/gnumoon)19:17
vagrantchrm. now i'm getting unreliable results powering on .. circle-1 and it just sits there ... using the arrow keys to select power on, and it just sits there19:17
vagrantchmmm... power off and now it works again... i think19:18
truckwell yeah I didn't expect the brick to actually _generate_ more than the input (:19:59
vagrantcBoostisbetter: what do you mean? the mnt/reform has a range of 9-32v input ... i have several things that have even wider ranges ... none of these are particularly absurdly expensive (other than perhaps the mnt/reform :)20:06
vagrantcbuck-boost converters and the likes are not that unreasonable20:07
BoostisbetterIndeed, I was looking at a different adapter. Sorry20:12
