Boostisbetterjosch, the script you made right? 09:25
BoostisbetterI think that is a great idea! Thanks for working on that!09:25

joschthis looks odd...11:24
c-keen[m]The battery pack is not connected11:34
c-keen[m]Are there recommended fw versions I should flash or is it just master for everything. Since I am taking everything apart I might as well flash all components11:41
minutec-keen[m]: this output is ugly, but normal. that screen needs to be fixed11:43
minutec-keen[m]: i recommend using master for lpc fw and keyboard fw11:43
c-keen[m]minute: thanks!12:14

Boostisbetterso I am having a weird issue with wifi connectivity. It almost feels like there is competing processes trying to handle the wifi connection and that is causing it to never finish connecting. This happens the most when resuming from standby. It will not connect until I disable wifi via Gnome settings and then re-enable it. 13:01
Boostisbetterbut even then when it connects it will disconnect and try to reconnect. Most of the times this is successful, and then the connection is stable. 13:01
joschBoostisbetter: is there anything about the output you are having trouble with?13:02
- mtm (QUIT: Ping timeout: 264 seconds) (~mtm@c-71-228-84-213.hsd1.fl.comcast.net)13:03
BoostisbetterI tried doing a lot of what the scripts was saying I should do and it wasn't working. I think my system is a frankenstein. 13:08
BoostisbetterI'm kind of worried about poking things, because I really don't want things to break. hahaha13:08
joschBoostisbetter: want me to walk you through some of the things?13:09
Boostisbetterwould be great actually13:09
joschBoostisbetter: it would help me with improving reform-check if i could understand your current setup a bit better13:09
Boostisbettersure, how can I help there?13:10
joschBoostisbetter: can you show me your /etc/fstab as well as the output of findmnt and ls -lha /boot13:10
joschi'd also like to see uname -a and dpkg -l | grep linux-image13:11
Boostisbetterok, right now it is installing a bunch of the things the script said were missing. I didn't grab things like minetest or firefox-esr, for example, but the things that seemed useful I picked up. 13:13
Boostisbetterbut for my fstab it says that it is unconfigured. 13:14
joschplease pastebin the exact output of the commands and file contents :)13:14
Boostisbetterhere is findmnt13:16

Boostisbetterand here is uname -a13:18
BoostisbetterLinux reform 5.12.0+ #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Jun 10 15:07:50 CEST 2021 aarch64 GNU/Linux13:18
Boostisbetterthe last dpkg command returns nothing13:18
joschphew...13:19
joschokay, the good news is, that the reform-check utility doesn't seem to lie about what it reports13:19
joschto help you, let me improve reform-check so that it gives you some output that better helps you in fixing your system13:20
joschwhat puzzles me though is how you got into your current situation -- is this a system from before sysimage-v3?13:20
Boostisbetterthat would be great. I have felt like I'm on the edge here for a while, and getting some stability back would be great. 13:20
BoostisbetterYes, I had v2 and that is all I've ever used. 13:20
BoostisbetterI did a raw update and full-upgrade and that set all of this in motion. 13:21
BoostisbetterI have done that probably 8 times now13:21
joschBoostisbetter: turns out you didn't actually upgrade the reform stuff because you are missing /etc/apt/preferences.d/reform.pref ;)13:21
Boostisbetterwell that sucks. I have manually applied some reform specific things though13:21
Boostisbetterno idea which ones, but anything the suspend script required I have get up to date. 13:22
BoostisbetterI use suspend A LOT13:22
joschBoostisbetter: can you remember which?13:22
Boostisbetterno sadly I don't13:22
joschBoostisbetter: after each upgrade you reported that suspend didn't break but that is no surprise because you never upgraded your kernel ;)13:22
Boostisbetterwell that is good13:23
Boostisbetteralthough I would much rather be wear I am supposed to be system wise. 13:23
joschBoostisbetter: do you have a second machine around to take a snapshot and that you can use to restore your reform to a working state in case something goes wrong?13:23
BoostisbetterI just have put a lot of work into the system gettings things set up in a way that works for me. 13:23
BoostisbetterI have a Librem 5 that uses the same SoC, but I also have a Framework laptop running Ubuntu but is, of course, x8613:25
joschBoostisbetter: it would just be useful for you to have a way to take a snapshot of your current state so that you can restore things to how they are right now in case things go wrong.13:25
BoostisbetterWell I think I might have just hosed it. 13:28
joschWhat did you do and what is happening?13:28
Boostisbetterrebooted after updating things based on what the script sad was missing, and now I'm not getting dropped into the ttl on startup13:28
joschWhat are you getting instead?13:29
Boostisbetterlast thing loaded was Record Runlevel Change in UTMP13:29
Boostisbetterin grey text the network managers has verbiage being displayed. 13:30
Boostisbetterwell I poushed alt f-2 and it dropped me in the ttl13:30
Boostisbettersway is loading now13:30
joschBoostisbetter: you should not've installed these packages because you don't have /etc/apt/preferences.d/reform.pref (as the script told you) and that means that you didn't get the patched packages from the reform repo13:31
joschokay, that's good13:31
joschbefore you proceed, maybe you want to take a snapshot of your system?13:31
joschunfortunately i have to run now and pick up my baby from kindergarten13:32
Boostisbetterabsolutely no problem. I can set this to the side for a while as well. Thank you for the help. 13:33
joschi've moved the /etc/apt/preferences.d/reform.pref check above the check for missing packages and added a warning that nothing should be installed without having /etc/apt/preferences.d/reform.pref in place13:35
c-keen[m]Operation successful, now I have new protected batteries14:10

joschi'm interested in the output this produces on your system15:13
