kfxanyone built kernel 6.0.3?  my build is bailing out in cdns-hdmi-core.c with undefined references.  anyone run into that?00:23
+ qwer (~qwer@89-24-57-42.nat.epc.tmcz.cz)00:24
joschkfx: we are building 6.0.5 in Debian with the patchset which works fine00:27
kfxwoops, typo, I meant 6.0.600:27
kfxI'll try rolling back00:27
joschi originally rebased the patches onto 6.0.3 but now 6.0.5 built without problems00:28
kfxdamn, I don't see anything that would have changed between versions00:30
kfxI'm doing something wrong then.  Thanks for the confirmation00:30
joschkfx: did you use these https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform-debian-packages/-/tree/main/linux/patches or did you rebase yourself?00:32
joschi remember that some of the patches had a wonky offset of more than 300 lines for several hunks00:32
joschmaybe those are off for 6.0.600:33
kfxI applied those patches to my tree and patch did not complain about any of them00:34
kfxbut I'll double check00:34
+ chartreuse (~chartreus@S0106f0f249dfd9c3.cg.shawcable.net)00:39
sigridjosch: I forgot to mention the fix for my previous kernel build errors related to hdmi patch00:39
sigridI am not sure why it builds with debian, but you *clearly* need to have "select DRM_DISPLAY_HDMI_HELPER" in "config DRM_CDNS_HDMI" section00:40
sigridkfx: ^00:40
kfxoh!00:40
sigridotherwise it did not link for me00:40

kfxdoesn't even show up in make menuconfig.  hidden behind some unrelated IMX board dependency chain.00:48
kfxnow to kick off another build.  I really should get a build box00:49
sigridkfx: https://ftrv.se/_/0005-imx8mq-import-HDMI-driver-and-make-DCSS-compatible-w.patch00:50
sigridit's a small change in Kconfig00:50
kfxI applied this one https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform-debian-packages/-/blob/main/linux/patches/0005-imx8mq-import-HDMI-driver-and-make-DCSS-compatible-w.patch00:51
sigridyeah, it's different00:52
sigridmine worked, the one you linked did not00:52
sigrididk if it has been updated (again)00:52
sigridlemme diff00:52
sigridhmmm it did :/00:54
sigridI have no time rn to figure out the updated version, unfortunately00:56
kfxI'll keep beating on it.  thanks for the heads up.00:58

minutejosch: hmm no! that patch (it got a little fix later and then got merged) made the file chooser work for me10:21
joschminute: did you build libffi yourself or did you install it from the repos?11:01
minutejosch: built it myself i think...11:01
minutejosch: and sorry, i was confused. there are 2 different problems. libffi caused wayland not to work at all. a mesa bug whose fix is merged in mesa master (also self built here) crashed chromium and the display stack 11:02

joschah right, i do not have that mesa patch applied on my system12:22
joschbecause we cannot cross build mesa we cannot put it into reform-debian-packages12:23
joschminute: would you like me to change reform-debian-packages so that "native" qemu compilation is used if cross building fails?12:23
joschthen we could build patched mesa12:23

minutejosch: sounds cool :313:10
minutejosch: lets say i have another set of kernel patches and a different dts, for pocket reform. is there already a good possibility to integrate these in our builds?13:12
joschminute: didn't you say you wanted one kernel that works for both?13:13
minutejosch: that would be the best actually... but there's definitely a new dts14:16
joschminute: there is no problem adding two non-upstream dts to the kernel we build14:21
joschminute: it will be up to flash-kernel to configure u-boot in the way to pick the correct dts14:21
joschbut the kernel package will be the same14:21
minuteok cool14:26
joschglibc 2.36 was uploaded to sid today so cross-building will be impossible for the next few days15:05
