minuteneat, i wonder what's the gpu? https://www.cnx-software.com/2022/08/23/leapfive-nb2-quad-core-risc-v-processor-comes-with-gpu-npu-and-dsp/13:59
- mtm (QUIT: Ping timeout: 248 seconds) (~mtm@c-73-27-62-116.hsd1.fl.comcast.net)14:03
eeryWhat's the likelihood it's powervr? Seems like the most likely IP block unless it's proprietary to leapfive14:11
eeryanother page on leapfive's website advertises "Rich development resources such as OpenCL 2.2, Vulkan 1.1, opencv 4.1 and openvx 1.2"14:12
eerysounds similar to the press release for the Series8XT cores14:14
minutejosch: i made a mouser order today incl 1 laird antenna for you14:21
minuteeery: yeah, IMG seems likely14:21
minuteas they have also licensed to starfive14:22
eerywhat's the FOSS story with those? I just remember it used to be terrible, but I kind of remember hearing they open-sourced some portion of code14:24
minutethere was some new imgtech gallium driver, but i'm not sure if it's for those cores14:29
eeryhmm, looks like a roll of the dice14:35
eerySeems like they're developing two parallel microarchs, Rogue and Furian14:36
eeryand only Rogue is supported in mesa14:36
eeryI guess they open sourced a runtime for the older, inferior microarch :/14:38
minuteah14:45
+ bkeys (~Thunderbi@static-198-54-135-69.cust.tzulo.com)14:55
eeryso I've figured out I don't have a proper earth/grounding and I think that's causing some current leakage through my Reform's chassis15:04
eerycould this damage eletrical components lol15:04
minuteeery: this is normal.15:05
- bkeys (QUIT: Remote host closed the connection) (~Thunderbi@static-198-54-135-69.cust.tzulo.com)15:08
KoodaOh yeah, I found out that the hard way x)  My microphone zaps my lips when I touch my Reform ^^'15:10
eeryokay cool15:13
eeryit affects my other laptop, but I wanted to make sure it wasn't slowly frying transistors or something on my much harder to replace Reform :P15:15
eeryhmmm, I think the IMG microarchs are more branding than anything, sounds like the mesa driver should be partially compatible with most newer chips15:46
Boostisbetterminute: except when on AC mains though right, because the power adapter provides a path to ground?16:09

Boostisbettereery: does the US adapter have a 3 prong plug? If so, then it is grounded. 17:45
BoostisbetterIt is hard for me to tell because I have a European / German plug. 17:46
minuteBoostisbetter: ac earth is decoupled in the power brick 18:00

eeryNot sure how common it is, but I've seen unearthed plugs in Europe, mostly in early/mid 20th century construction in Denmark18:54
eerysame deal in the US IME, old/poor construction lacks an earth pin (or it's not wired to anything...)18:55

Boostisbetterjust had the first issue with the LPC that I have ever had with my Reform. 20:24
BoostisbetterI have just did a circle 0 to turn off the reform as it crashed when resuming from suspend. I went to then turn it back on and the screen was kind of stuck between selecting power on and showing the lpc menu. 20:24
Boostisbetterit wasn't responsive to any further LPC commands, and the only way I could get it to stop was by unplugging the power from the mainboard. 20:25
Boostisbetterall is good now, and I am not worried about it happening again, but thought I would mention it, anyway20:25
mtmminute: thanks for the detailed response re: RKX7. Really excited about it22:16
