vkoskiv_I keep having these random freezes where vim or some other program gets stuck for a few seconds, and then the following message is emitted to the kernel log:00:53
vkoskiv_[30555.465943] nvme nvme0: I/O 15 QID 1 timeout, completion polled00:53
vkoskiv_Is there a fix for this? It's getting a bit frustrating.00:54
vkoskiv_I don't understand the meaning of that message, even after a bit of googling.00:54
minutepktvkoskiv_: unusual01:26
minutepktvkoskiv_: what ssd model?01:26
minutepktgrubman: yes, https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform-system-image/-/jobs/848/artifacts/browse/reform2-imx8mq/01:33
kfxvkoskiv_: what kernel version is this?01:34
vkoskiv_minutepkt: It's an Intell 600P01:34
kfxthere used to be a bug where msi-x interrupts weren't properly masked after a resume, but it got fixed a couple years back01:34
vkoskiv_s/intell/intel01:34
vkoskiv_256GB01:34
minutepkthmm kfx we use pci=nomsi01:35
minutepktmaybe disabling aspm could help? or move data to another brand, like WD blue01:36
kfxvkoskiv_: also make sure your nvme drive has the latest firmware01:37
- minutepkt (QUIT: Quit: Lost terminal) (~mntmn@ip-109-40-243-140.web.vodafone.de)01:39
vkoskiv_Newest is PSF121C, I'm running PSF100C01:42
vkoskiv_Place your bets on if Intel made a linux + arm64 update tool01:42
vkoskiv_linux yes, arm no01:45
vkoskiv_x86_64 only here.01:45

smjThere are some nice MNT Reform updates after this week's Plan9front hack-a-thon02:04
kfxvkoskiv_: theoretically fwupdmgr should be able to handle it02:04
vkoskiv_kfx: fwupdate says the ssd has no updates available02:08
vkoskiv_s/fwupdate/fwupdmgr02:08
vkoskiv_Geez, what a name02:08
kfxhttps://usermanual.wiki/Pdf/IntelSSDFirmwareUpdateTool301ReleaseNotes.697519269.pdf see page 1602:09
kfxmight be worth trying to update that firmware on a different drive02:09
kfxI mean with that drive in a different system02:09
vkoskiv_Yeah, might plug it into my desktop02:10
vkoskiv_Can also image the drive before updating while it's there02:10
kfxif you can unpack the updater, fwupdtool can probably flash the update directly with the install-blob command02:11
vkoskiv_Thanks! I'll try that02:16

cinap_lenrekbad news20:34
Boostisbetteruh oh20:34
cinap_lenrekfucked my reform batteries in the hackerthon :(20:34
vkoskiv_Oof, how'd that happen?20:34
cinap_lenreki belive this might have been my fault tho20:34
cinap_lenreki modified the firmware for remote testing during bringup20:35
cinap_lenrekso the reform would always try the start the arm as soon as power is applied20:35
cinap_lenreksomeone must have tripped over the power-supply and the 230V cable slipped out of the powersupply20:36
cinap_lenrekso the reform ran on batteries over night and ran out20:36
cinap_lenrekand next day batteries where ded20:36
cinap_lenrekand wasnt recharching20:36
vkoskiv_What's the voltage on the cells20:37
cinap_lenrekstatus says missing cells20:37
cinap_lenrekall over the place20:37
cinap_lenreksome where showing 0.0V20:37
vkoskiv_On the display or with a multimeter?20:37
cinap_lenreksome 2.6V... 1.X.,..20:37
cinap_lenrekand now, its even crazier20:37
cinap_lenreki let if plugged with power over night20:37
cinap_lenrekin the hope it would recover20:37
cinap_lenrekbut now all read 5.3V20:37
cinap_lenrekall cells20:38
vagrantcthat's a bit high :(20:38
cinap_lenrekvkoskiv_: i havnt measured with multimeter20:38
cinap_lenrekyeah20:38
cinap_lenrekmaybe now mainboard is damaged20:38
cinap_lenreki dont know20:38
cinap_lenrek5.3V makes no sense20:39
cinap_lenreki think 5.3V might just be an error20:40
cinap_lenrekbullshit value20:40
cinap_lenrekmaybe later i take out batteries and measure with multimeter20:40
cinap_lenrekor when i get back20:40
vagrantchopefully20:40
cinap_lenrektho, i wonder... even with the poweron change20:46
cinap_lenrekthe lpc would turn off the arm no?20:47
cinap_lenrekwhen it runs low on power20:47
cinap_lenrekhow long does it then take for the lpc to brown out and drain the remaing charge?20:47
cinap_lenreki can imaginge once it browns out, and restarts and starts the arm again20:48
cinap_lenrekdraining the battery20:48
minutecinap_lenrek: 5.3 is basically a fault 20:49
BoostisbetterThe LPC saw an update, which I imagine yoru Reform had that would kill power when the batteries get too low20:49
minutecinap_lenrek: and yes, you ran into lpc brownout20:49
Boostisbetterbut I see the Chef is here so I'll digress20:50
cinap_lenrekok20:50
cinap_lenrekwe'll see20:51
cinap_lenreki will remove batteries and measure them with multimeter20:51
cinap_lenrekand maybe get replacement onces20:51
minutecinap_lenrek: but you're in luck, there is stock https://eu.nkon.nl/jgne-18650-1800mah-5-4a-lifepo4.html20:51
cinap_lenrekjust the 5.3V worry me20:51
minutecinap_lenrek: it just means the cell is dead20:52
cinap_lenrekah, ok :)20:52
cinap_lenreki must make my silly hack more fool proof20:52
minutei really really should get the new battery board ready for sale20:52
cinap_lenrekis it possible to detect if the batteries are completely disconnected?20:53
minutewhat do you mean?20:53
cinap_lenreki basically only need that hack when batteries are disconnected20:53
cinap_lenrekor other way around20:54
cinap_lenrekcheck if we run from barrel jack power20:54
cinap_lenrekyeah20:54
cinap_lenrekthat is something the lpc should know20:55
cinap_lenreklemme check the code20:55
cinap_lenreksorry for the noise20:55
cinap_lenrekminute: thanks for the link!20:55
cinap_lenrekminute: how does it work tho? the lpc itself can drain the batteries no?20:59
cinap_lenrekminute: once we'r in brownout, we cant rely on its firmware to kill power20:59
minutecinap_lenrek: the lpc will release the enable pulldowns and the 5V and 3V3 will go wild and drain the power21:00
Boostisbetterahhh, I have always just been really careful, and kept a good eye on battery levels. if I knew I wasn't goign to be messing with it for a while I put on AC just to be safe. The battery controller always seemed to do a good job of keeping them charged without overheating anything. 21:04
cinap_lenrekwouldnt you need some electrical circuitry to stop the lpc from starting?21:06
cinap_lenrekor is it a non issue and it would take like weeks until the lpc itself would drain the batteries?21:07
