minutejosch: i'm migrating my personal setup to sysimage v3 but i'm missing a puzzle piece. i have a previous encrypted ssd setup. i've put it in /etc/crypttab. i can run cryptdisks_start reform_crypt manually (booting from sd). but how do i make this work automatically? on boot, something currently times out waiting for the disk15:46
minutejosch: maybe i have to rebuild initramfs or something?15:47
- arminweigl (QUIT: Ping timeout: 276 seconds) (~arminweig@sourcehut/user/arminweigl)15:47
+ arminweigl (~arminweig@sourcehut/user/arminweigl)15:50
joschminute: you have to have the right entries (/dev/mapper/...) in /etc/fstab and then rebuild your initramfs which will utilize both /etc/fstab and /etc/crypttab to do the right thing.15:50
joschi'm out with my family now but i'll be back online around 21:00 CEST15:51
minuteok, i'm trying to run: ROOTPATH=/dev/mapper/reform_crypt reform-boot-config sd15:51
- arminweigl_ (QUIT: Ping timeout: 276 seconds) (~arminweig@sourcehut/user/arminweigl)15:52
minutei also copied /lib/modules/5.17.0-reform2-arm64 to the target (i had a non modular kernel before), do i need something else critical?15:52
minutedepmod something something?15:53
joschminute: just copying the kernel modules is not enough -- you need to have the kernel package installed on the system you boot or otherwise the initramfs hooks will be missing15:53
minutejosch: ok, so i could try chrooting and installing that15:53
joschdon't forget to bind-mound /proc, /sys and /dev before chrooting but yes, that will work15:54
joschsorry, afk for a few hours now15:55
minuteok, installing, and thanks16:00

minutehmm, messed something up. kernel starts but display doesn't come up. 16:19
minuteor maybe only u-boot starts.16:19
minuteno, i guess it's the kernel because keyboard+trackball are initialized. should have taken an uart adapter home16:20

minuteok, i guess /etc/initramfs and /etc/initramfs-tools, esp modules, have to exist on the target... are these reform specifics also in a deb, josch?17:04
minutealso i probably should install the flash-kernel package from our repo in the target17:08
minuteah, important customizations are still in mkuserland.sh17:11
minutealso, cryptsetup-initramfs package might be needed in the target?17:18
+ MajorBiscuit (~MajorBisc@86-88-79-148.fixed.kpn.net)17:35
minutehmm the modules in /etc/initramfs-tools/modules do not get picked up17:40
minuteok, back in business, for some reason /etc/initramfs-tools/modules still had the old content, fixed that, and it works17:51

joschminute: it's working now for you?20:00
minutejosch: yes. i'll need to write down a checklist of how to prepare the original root fs to make it work20:01
joschawesome, great to hear :)20:01
minutei think it's mostly installing the custom kernel and flash-kernel packages, plus cryptsetup-initramfs, plus the customizations that mkuserland.sh makes, esp for including the imx8m related modules. and editing fstab and crypttab20:02
minutei started by flashing rescue-system.img to sd card and mounting my nvme from there and copying/adjusting things20:03
joschthat sounds right20:04

cinap_lenrekhow does the backlight control work?22:52
cinap_lenrekthe dts has a comment on pwm4, but the actual backlight node references pwm2?22:52
cinap_lenrekis the comment on pwm4 just wrong?22:58

minutezero or one, can't decide23:10
minutecinap_lenrek: according to my schematics it's "PWM2", plus there is an enable gpio23:11
cinap_lenrekyep23:11
cinap_lenrekbut whats pwm4 then?23:11
cinap_lenreklemme find the schematics23:12
minutepwm4 goes to a testpoint, maybe a wrong/old comment... where did you find that?23:12
minutemaybe it was pwm4 on a different board or the devkit23:12
minuteand the enable gpio is gpio 1023:13

minuteugh, a bug!23:23
minutewell spotted23:23
minutebtw if anyone ever builds current mesa from source, be aware that commit 7647023f3bb5785f15476b64c08b3ed01c46c536 breaks some stuff23:24
sigridwhat does it break, minute?23:30
cinap_lenrekhttp://stream.nauticradio.net:14280/23:31
cinap_lenrekheres a break!23:31
sigridthey've been doing too many repeats at this point23:32
minutesigrid: many icons in gimp are not painted anymore, some have black pixels instead of alpha; chromium shows huge black rectangles / whole websites turn black 23:32
minutei bisected mesa today and it was this commit23:33
sigridok, I think maybe I haven't caught it is because I'm on main and pulled in a random working commit23:34
minutethe commit before that one still works fine23:34
minutei wasn't able to trivially revert it on main's tip though, throws some conflicts23:35
minutei posted some screenshots here https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/653623:53
