bkeys52Hi all, is anyone else here ordered a reform this last November?16:26
+ vagrantc (~vagrant@2600:3c01:e000:21:7:77:0:20)16:30
+ sts-q (~sts-q@37.228.147.67)16:31
BoostisbetterNo but I ordered one last October17:27
bkeys52Have you got it yet?17:40
BoostisbetterYeah I got it in December, but I ordered from MNT direct. 18:15
bkeys52I see, I ordered one in November last year and still haven't gotten it. I am willing to be patient, but a loose idea of when I can expect it would be nice18:17
joschbkeys52: how did you order it? Via Crowd Supply or via shop.mntmn.com?18:28
bkeys52Crowd Supply18:28
minutebkeys52: it might be because we still owe CS some trackballs, trackpads and sleeves that we're sending out next week ish18:39
minutebkeys52: ooc, what did you order?18:39
bkeys52Power cable, trackball, and DIY kit18:39
bkeys52I almost wish they would ship it without the trackball if that is the case; cause I'd be okay with just plugging in a USB mouse at the moment18:40
minutewe've sent them 50 trackballs so far and they've shipped out 42 :318:42
minutethey've sent out 46 diy kits but we've sent them 92 so far18:43
_Eminute: I'm writing the email support@ wrt. the bad motherboard, is there any info I should include?18:44
minute_E: order number, address, a bit of context18:44
_E👍️18:45
_Eis it likely to be repaired or a replaced?18:45
_Es/or a/or/18:46
bkeys52minute Yeah that sounds good and all, but I wonder how far behind I am in the queue18:46
minutebkeys52: unfortunately i have no visibility into that18:47
minute_E: repaired as we don't really have spares anymore18:47
_Eminute: honestly that's kinda neat18:48
minutewell, lets see!18:48
_EI'll be interested to see what went wrong18:49
_Ehah19:01
_Ejust remembered that I have the iMX UART logs from the incident19:01
_Eminute: is there any chance that a bad kernel config could have caused this sort of power issue?19:02
minute_E: no.19:03
_Ehow about trying a bunch of bad kernel configs in a row19:04

josch_E: that would be *very* odd and I've never heard of such a thing. For the record, according to my git log, I tried running 68 different kernel configs on my reform and it still lives. ;)22:02
josch("tried" because half of them didn't get the screen up)22:02
_Ejosch: most of mine didn't either22:07
_EI only did 21, but some of them deviated significantly from the base22:07
josch_E: I still don't think it matters but I'm curious what your "base" was?22:08
_Ethe reform-system-image config22:09
+ alex4nder (~alexander@172.56.30.50)22:10
joschah okay, that's the Debian default config (minus two dozen options which just a few days also became part of the Debian default thanks to vagrantc) -- the original kernel from minute was *very* different and built most stuff with "y" instead of "m"22:11
vagrantcACTION is now impatient to see the next debian kernel upload...22:13
_Ehttps://0x0.st/oTnc.diff22:14
_EI'm not exactly a kernel minimalist22:14
_Ebut then again, neither is Fedora, which is what I was targeting22:14
joschvagrantc: me too but also because that'd also upgrade 5.17.3 -> 5.17.4 and I haven't yet tried out whether our patches apply cleanly ;)22:17
+ mtm (~mtm@c-73-27-62-116.hsd1.fl.comcast.net)22:18
sigrid.4 is out? i'm gonna try it now then22:19
josch_E: what I did: I started off with the config from minute that I knew worked, and then bisected the diff between that config and the Debian kernel config until I had a minimal diff -- doing the (apparently around 68) necessary rebuilds is okay with ccache even on my old 10 year old machine22:20
joschsigrid: kernel.org even already lists 5.17.5! :D22:20
sigridah, ok22:21
vagrantcjosch: yeah, you did the hard part, i just massaged the list of differences and pushed. :)22:23
alex4nderthanks for doing that work22:29
vagrantcwell, i guess i also tested that it actually built22:30
vagrantcand booted :)22:30
vagrantcACTION doesn't promise build, boot and push were in that order22:31
alex4nderACTION looks forward to that as well22:31

kfxyo sigrid is this void? 23:02
+ sts-q (~sts-q@2a01:41e1:2dd0:d00:5d2b:6b8b:c053:f539)23:03
sigridyeah23:03
kfxsl and I should hop off my half-assed alpine deploy and use your stuff.  I'm booting off the stock kernel on emmc and switching to a luks-encrypted alpine root on the nvme.  would void support that kind of asshattery?23:08
sigridit would. you can as well install void in a chroot and use that if you don't feel like running the whole thing23:09
sigridsl tried my live image but for some reason it never worked (no idea why)23:09
sigridyou're free to try it, though: https://github.com/ftrvxmtrx/void-packages/releases/tag/mntreform2-2022021423:10
kfxit will be weird using gnu tools again23:10
sigridthe one I have there is musl but I can build a glibc one on request23:10
kfxI prefer musl, thanks23:11
kfxdownloaded; I'll poke around this evening. thanks!23:11
sigridnp :) hope it works for you23:11

sljust haven't had time yet to try with another23:56
