vagrantcACTION gives a shot with 5.17-rc300:02
joschvagrantc: 5.17-rc4 is working already as well :)00:04
sigridi run that + preemt_rt set on top00:05
sigrid*preempt_rt00:05
vagrantcjosch: great news00:06
vagrantchrm. no luck for me so far...00:20
sigridit requires a few patches on top, upstream on its own won't do much00:21
vagrantcseems to get most of the way through the boot process then hangs...00:34

vagrantcjosch: with -rc4, are you using upstream defconfig?00:52
vagrantcpatches?00:52
vagrantcgotta track down what's missing in the debian kernel ...00:53

Boostisbetterso I did an upgrade again on my Reform, and now the cpu meter and volume control panel don't work. However if I invoke the reform-compstat or pavucontrol manually from a terminal they both start and work.15:11
BoostisbetterAnybody have any idea how I can get that working again through the waybar?15:11
- sl (QUIT: Quit: Lost terminal) (~sl@beastie.sdf.org)15:29
Boostisbetterit also reinstalled connman, but I don't use that, I just use gnomes control panel for that. 15:30
Boostisbetterso the only issues I'm having are that the cpu status is not being shown on waybar, and pavucontrol doesn't open when clicking on the volume section of the waybar. 15:31
joschBoostisbetter: Did you upgrade from this repository https://mntre.com/reform-debian-repo/ or the other?16:10
Boostisbetterthese are what apt is hitting on mine: 16:11

Boostisbetterjosch: I was under the impression that I was. 16:12
joschBoostisbetter: until there is a migration script, I wouldn't recommend to use https://mntre.com/reform-debian-repo/ 16:13
joschBoostisbetter: Yes, the apt output indicates that you are using it.16:13
Boostisbetterjosch: any tips on switching to that? 16:13
Boostisbetterjosch: nevermind, thanks for the confirmation!!16:13
joschIn that case you have to adjust your ~/.config/sway/config and ~/.config/waybar/config like this: https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform-tools/-/commit/3b37ff8550aef7a98fc0dc3b6657b0e114f7edcd16:13
+ vkoskiv (~vkoskiv@89-166-62-97.bb.dnainternet.fi)16:24
Boostisbetterso I made a few changes and now it is saying it can't find reform-desktop-help, and I can't invoke anything myself anymore. werid. 16:34
BoostisbetterI need to just stick to using unattended-upgrade -d instead so that I don't keep breaking things. 16:36
joschBoostisbetter: can you paste me the precise error message about reform-desktop-help? reform-desktop-help should be installed by the reform-tools package.16:45
joschBoostisbetter: *definitely* only manually upgrade if you are using   https://mntre.com/reform-debian-repo/  or just remove it from your apt sources.list until it's final.16:46
Boostisbettersure, but it was basically saying it couldn't find it17:16
Boostisbetteror that it doesn't exist17:16
Boostisbetterjosch: bash: line 1: reform-desktop-help: command not found17:17
joschBoostisbetter: dpkg -L reform-tools | grep reform-desktop-help17:18
Boostisbetter/etc/reform-desktop-help17:19
joschBoostisbetter: that looks like you have the wrong reform-tools version installed. Run: dpkg-query --showformat='${Version}\n' --show reform-tools17:19
Boostisbetterjosch: 1.117:20
joschBoostisbetter: wait for minute to merge https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform-tools/-/merge_requests/5 then I will trigger the reform-debian-packages pipeline with a revert of my updates to the kernel config (official Debian kernel needs more space to build than available) and then after the cron job updated https://mntre.com/reform-debian-repo/ you can install the new version that should fix things for 17:25
joschyou17:25
Boostisbetterjosch: thanks! I really appreciate it. I'm starting to punch myself for upgrading, when I was happy before that. Hahahahaha17:26
joschOn the other hand I'm happy that the code gets some testing. I fear I'm the only one using all of this so there are surely still lots of bugs...17:28
Boostisbetterjosch: no worries. I'm super grateful you are working on it!17:28
- GNUmoon (QUIT: Ping timeout: 240 seconds) (~GNUmoon@gateway/tor-sasl/gnumoon)18:09
Boostisbetterjosch: were you meaning that the repo would be ready sometime today, or did you mean just that you are working on and hopefully it will be ready sometime in the future? 19:36
Boostisbetterjosch: also if my sway and waybar config are in my home directory, do I need to copy them to etc/skel?19:47
Boostisbetterbecause I have nothing in etc/skel currently19:47
Boostisbetterto me it just seems like the paths for reform-compstat and reform-desktop-help are no longer known. 19:58
BoostisbetterI can invoke compstat manually and it works, but it is not a globally known command19:59
joschBoostisbetter: the repo can be ready as soon as I re-trigger the reform-debian-packages pipeline after minute accepted my reform-tools MR. I'll only be awake for another two hours so maybe not anymore today.20:19
joschBoostisbetter: The contents of /etc/skel are only used when you create a new user and have no influence on the existing users.20:20
Boostisbetterjosch: ok, but you are convinced that updating the tools from the mntre repo should fix my problems? 20:21
joschBoostisbetter: If you also edited your ~/.config/sway/config and ~/.config/waybar/config according to the diff I linked to then I think it should fix the problems that I understood you have.20:22
Boostisbetterjosch: I did. So fingers crossed. 20:22
