joschmntmn: did you already port your kernel patches to something newer than 5.12? Half the patches fail to apply with newer versions. If not, then I'd do that now.13:31

mntmnjosch: haven't! i think less patches should be required now, and we can base the DTS off of lucas stach' existing/upstreamed patches13:41
mntmnjosch: any help is appreciated13:41
mntmnjosch: he also submitted DTS patches for I2C which may fix the wm8960 reset, and some ethernet thing13:41
joschmntmn: is there a list of patches other than the one in reform2-imx8mq/template-kernel/patches? Maybe a linux git tree somewhere?14:25
mntmnjosch: those are the only patches that were required for the existing kernel14:25
joschokay14:25
mntmnjosch: but in the meantime lucas stach has posted a bunch of patches to the arm kernel ML (and some were even already merged to linux, like a base mnt-reform dts), and i have yet to test/integrate them... so if you have time i will dig up the links for you14:26
- Kooda (QUIT: Remote host closed the connection) (~kooda@natsu.upyum.com)14:26
joschyes, I see that the Debian linux kernel image already ships the reform dts -- that's neat!14:27
joschI'll start with rebasing reform2-imx8mq/template-kernel/patches and see if the result works or not.14:28
mntmnhuh, that was quick... probably that version doesn't support the internal display yet though14:28
joschI'll come back once I have some results. :)14:28

technomancyI was basically planning on making that and now I don't have to20:25
Boostisbetterso in a rather UN-scientific method I have determined that the Reform can go just about 12 hours in standby. Mixed with work and use in between I have determined that I can take it with me to work and I will get through the day without needing to shut down. 20:26

bkeysmntmn: I take it CS still hasn't updated anything?20:39
bkeysI do not see anything on their website20:40
+ ruff (~ruff@ip-78-45-99-112.net.upcbroadband.cz)20:54
mntmnbkeys: could you check if your order was updated to the new product structure?21:12
bkeysmntmn: Sure, one second21:35
mntmnbecause the order page was at least brought up to date, also the prices raised etc21:35
mntmnand it has separate power cords...21:35
mntmnso your orders should be auto converted to this new structure (but with old prices of course ^^)21:36
bkeysBoth my trackball and unassembled reform are Currently estimated to ship on Mar 18, 202221:36
bkeysSo do I need to order a power brick for the reform?21:36
mntmnno no21:36
mntmnit was all included21:36
bkeysAlright21:36
mntmni mean the power brick is still included21:36
mntmnbut now you can choose a power cord21:37
mntmnwith the new system21:37
bkeysAh, that makes sense21:37
bkeysBut yeah, it says march 18th21:37
bkeysWhich I believe has not changed21:37
mntmnso the old orders will be split up into multiple SKUs21:37
mntmnyeah idk anything about the dates21:37
mntmnbut sounds like no splitting was done yet21:37
bkeysYeah, the order just says MNT Reform DIY Kit, and MNT Reform Optical Trackball Module21:37
mntmnmaybe they won't actually split those up21:37
bkeysNo splitting if power cord is gonna be a different SKU21:37
mntmnmaybe it's only internal mapping for fulfillment...21:38
bkeysSo is Mar 18th a reasonable date of when the Reform will ship?21:38
mntmni don't know21:38
mntmnwe will soon have built around 100 reforms that are then ready to ship to mouser21:38
mntmnbut we are waiting for mouser to give the green light21:38
mntmnand idk where people are in the order queue21:39
bkeysMmhm21:39
mntmnbecause i can't see individual orders21:39
mntmnbkeys: when did you order again?21:40
bkeysNov 23rd21:40
bkeys202121:40
mntmnok that is pretty late in the game, but nevertheless we plan to fulfill everything in Q121:41
mntmnthe order backlog starts with orders from end of june 202121:41
bkeysSo it is probable that the pile of ~100 Reforms doesn't include mine?21:42
mntmnwait, june 2020?21:42
mntmnyes, but the pile is growing all the time now... in total mouser/cs bought 200 units and not all are sold afaik21:42
mntmni think we will need around 8-10 weeks from now on to build all the rest21:43
bkeysI see, that is all fine. I spend most of my time computing on my desktop anyway21:43
Boostisbetterruff: mntmn: whelp I had one hang today. That was after about 24 stand by sessions though. It could have just been a fluke. 22:25
mntmn:022:25
ruffBoostisbetter: hang like it didn;t wake on circle-space?22:42
kfxI use a version of reform-standby that is posix-compliant sh (vs. bash), doesn't have functions (the code is just in line), but is otherwise similar, and I'm about 95% successful waking from sleep22:46
kfxthe other 5% is no response from lpc and it doesn't wake22:47
kfxI also don't have all the systemd cruft, since I'm running alpine linux22:47
ruffkfx: if system does not use systemd there's no benefit introducing it of course. As you don't have anything which may do someothiing out of your control. But when you do have it - you better use it otherwise it may its own idea on how to manage the session22:52
kfxfor sure, if it's there you have to deal with it.  this is one of the reasons I run alpine.  I only mention it to highlight that I'm getting similar results with a completely different init system.22:56
mntmnkfx: does the alpine init system have any handlers for suspend?22:59
BoostisbetterRuff, yes it hung likewhen the lpc said it was waking but screen was unpowered and not responsive to the keyboard or mouse. 23:03
joschThe reform boots with patched 5.16 but the display doesn't come on but only flickers once. Time to go to bed now though. Will investigate another time.23:41
