boosterfivekfx: nothing. I just saw that emulating amd64 / x86 is pretty much not currently possible, outside of Apple and Microsoft's wheel houses.10:09
boosterfiveI'm just coming to terms with all of the limitations here is all.10:09
boosterfiveWith my VNC and SSH issues sorted I have a solution for all of that anyway.10:09
boosterfivemntmn: One other thing I wanted to mention was that reform-standby seems to work much more reliably with connman gone.10:10
boosterfiveSo far I'm batting 3 of 3 successful suspends and resumes.10:10

AsmadeusI've got troubles with an ath10k wireless card and suspend at work as well, so got some lovey-dovey time planned with it around Feb next year.. Bringing wifi down before suspend like reform-suspend does is not an option for me so if I can make it work without ifdown perhaps it'll help with the issues people see here too10:27
mntmni don't think it is wifi related tbh. i had wake not working even with wifi card removed.10:38
mntmnthe wifi down stuff is just there because the wifi card gets confused and crashy otherwise10:39
Asmadeusah, I'm not aware of what the suspend problem is then - laptop just doesn't wake up? I was thinking of the wifi card not coming back on resume10:41
mntmnsoc freezes either late in sleep or in wake10:42
AsmadeusI haven't noticed any failure to wakeup on my boards (but then again it's a slightly different chip, so it doesn't have to)10:42
mntmnslightly different? which one?10:42
Asmadeusok, these are "fun" to debug indeed.10:42
Asmadeusimx8mp10:42
mntmnah i think that's very different, new power domain stuff, no?10:43
mntmni have the 8mp devkit too10:43
AsmadeusI don't remember the details for power domains but yes it's quite different10:43

andrey_utkinhow do I branch off on your gitlab? I don't see a Fork button, and I can't push a branch into reform/reform-system-image. I can email patches and I can set up a my repo elsewhere, but it's probably harder than necessary.15:15
joschandrey_utkin: you probably need an account first -- I have one and there is a fork button in the upper-right corner15:20
mntmnandrey_utkin: one second15:23
mntmnandrey_utkin: i can also make you a developer on reform-system-image15:24
andrey_utkinI have already made an account, and I'm logged in15:25
andrey_utkinno fork button it seems15:25
mntmnandrey_utkin: i just added you as a developer on reform-system-image, so now you can push a branch15:25
andrey_utkinthanks for the trust15:25

mntmnbut strange that you don't see a fork button... it's next to star etc in the top right corner15:26
+ bkeys (~Thunderbi@66.115.189.236)15:26
andrey_utkinah now i see it15:28
mntmnandrey_utkin: btw there have been a bunch of updates to the video codec stuff, apparently there's a new person working on the kernel side of things15:28
andrey_utkinit's not there on neither of "Repository", "Project information" tabs15:28
mntmnah15:29
mntmnandrey_utkin: if you haven't seen yet https://lore.kernel.org/lkml/20211216111256.2362683-1-aford173@gmail.com/15:29
mntmnandrey_utkin: i'm now rereading your thoughts on https://ffmpeg.org/pipermail/ffmpeg-devel/2019-April/242316.html15:34
mntmnandrey_utkin: you wrote > provide a third-party package repository15:35
mntmntargeting the major distros15:35
mntmnandrey_utkin: so we have that for debian already, that's how we ship custom builds of kicad (maybe not necessary anymore) and blender, and reform-tools15:36
mntmnwe'll also move Xwayland there and hopefully have no more stuff in /usr/local in the future (working with josch on this)15:37
sigridmntmn: are there any packages that get repackaged in some other way for reform? pulseaudio has an issue that i wondered about, unless ofc it comes unchanged from debian sources15:47
joschmntmn: would you like to directly move xorg to https://mntre.com/reform-debian or would you like to cross-build it locally as part of mkimage.sh? If the latter, I'll start working on a MR.15:47
- chomwitt (QUIT: Ping timeout: 240 seconds) (~chomwitt@ppp-2-85-245-134.home.otenet.gr)15:47

mntmnsigrid: no, but the pulseaudio default config is changed a little bit15:47
mntmnjosch: ideally i want to build ~only~ Xwayland from the xorg sources and install it as a deb from reform-debian. we still miss a repo for such .deb builds though15:48
mntmnjosch: i mean, a repo with a build script for these packages. or it could be added to a different directory in reform-system-image15:49
sigridah ok. padsp seems to have a wrong ld preload path. guess debian is the right place to report this15:49
mntmnsigrid: huh. i don't think i touched that15:52
mntmnalso, on my desktop computer i've switched to pipewire and might do that on reform too, soon15:52

andrey_utkindo you publish reform-system.img somewhere?17:47
andrey_utkinQ2: we're going to wrap the custom kernel, u-boot, and all the stuff in reform-system-image into deb (and other) packages, right?17:49
mntmnandrey_utkin: yes, in the CI pipelines ;)17:49
mntmnandrey_utkin: i.e. https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform-system-image/-/jobs/426/artifacts/browse17:50
andrey_utkinright, i see. I was thinking of some ftp-ish location :)17:52
andrey_utkinQ3: is there a test suite already somewhere?17:52
mntmnwell, there is a http-ish location at the end17:52
mntmnandrey_utkin: no, there's no test suite for the system image17:52
mntmntests are done manually17:53
andrey_utkinis there a script for manual testing?17:53
andrey_utkinas in, text17:53
mntmnnothing very actionable for 3rd parties yet, but sounds like something for my todo list17:54

technomancyouch; I updated apt and sway just completely stopped booting19:38
technomancycan't tell if this is a sid problem or a wayland problem but it really makes me want to get back on a stable release19:38
technomancylooks like another apt upgrade brought back sway but not xwayland19:40

technomancyso it sounds like this is a problem because it only worked previously when the reform-specific packages were being preferred vs the ones in debian, but then the debian ones pulled ahead and introduced incompatibilities with the reform-specific custom builds?23:45
technomancy(just wondering if I have the overall tl;dr correct)23:45
technomancyis there a tl;dr about why regular non-Xwayland Xorg doesn't work?23:45
