Boosterfivemntmn: Morning! I just wanted to comment that progress on the Reform Mini looks like it is making excellent headway! Is that an optical sensor at the bottom or have you miniaturized the trackball? 09:31
- Boosterfive (QUIT: Remote host closed the connection) (~Boosterfi@p8.pia.nato.int)09:32
+ boosterfive (~boosterfi@p8.pia.nato.int)09:33
mntmnboosterfive: miniaturized trackball!09:34
boosterfivemntmn: THAT is what I'm talking about! Awesome! I feel like once you use a trackball it is hard to use anything else. (Although the trackpoint is the truth as well)09:47
boosterfivemntmn: I'm making my own UMPC using the Framework mainboard. I09:48
boosterfivemntmn: 've already got the enclosure printed as the first prototype, and I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of hinges those are?09:49
boosterfivemntmn: All of the components are: Planck EZ keybaord, MNT Reform trackball module, Framework Laptop mainboard, Retrocution Tiny USB 4-port dock, Framework HDMI expansion card, Waveshare 7" touch display, and TBD wifi/bt dongle. Powered by a 100 watt powerbank via USB C PD.09:51
boosterfivemntmn: the case is inspried by 90s thinkpads and also the MSG cyberdeck. Having a keyboard that slides in and out is just a cool idea. Also because I'm using the Planck, if I find that the reform trackball just needs too much space, I don't really need it as the screen is touch enabled and the keyboard does mouse emulation pretty well.09:52
boosterfiveThe only thing I haven't figured out in Fusion is how to connect the display lid and the bottom case. I was going to 3d print some hinges, but I'm not a fan of the extra bulk.09:53
boosterfivemntmn: the hinges you are using on the Reform and Reform mini would be perfect.09:53
boosterfiveThe whole thing is in a footprint of 240 x 120mm09:54
boosterfivemntmn: I could have sworn I read the name of the hinges before. It might have been in the crowd supply description or maybe it is listed in the Reform manual, but I can't fignd it for the life of me now.09:57
mntmnboosterfive: they are listed in the parts list in the reform handbook09:57
boosterfivemntmn: indeed! I found them! Looks like you can only order in bulk. Any chance you want to sell me a set at an exurbanite mark up?10:17
mntmnboosterfive: maybe! can you write me an email about it? lukas@mntre.com10:18
boosterfivemntmn: you bet!10:25
