verxLinux reform 5.15.0 #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Nov 4 19:53:29 -00 2021 aarch64 GNU/Linux  (Latest LTS on Gentoo, set up as an exact copy of the Reform Debian image, but with custom builds. I'm 100% happy now)05:51

rasmusI'm about to update the fw to fix the battery drain in the reform as described here: https://community.mnt.re/t/mnt-reform-recommended-lpc-and-keyboard-firmware-update-to-fix-battery-drain-in-off-state/55909:14
rasmusIs is correct that I need to intall gcc-avr package from debian repos in order to build the firmware09:14
rasmus?09:14
rasmusI cannot find it mentioned anywhere in the instructions09:15
_2disbetterMost likely. Try to build it. If it fails to compile, go ahead and install it. It is just build libraries. If you don't need them they just take up space. They don't present any kind of security threat.09:15
rasmusWithout the gcc-avr package it wasn't able to find the compiler. I install it and try to compile. Now I get the error message: "Keyboard.h:40:22: fatal error: avr/io.h: No such file or directory". It feel like there is something I have missed. The repo was freshly cloned, no modifications.09:18
vkoskivCurious, does the audio/mic jack on the Reform support the Apple TRRS connector? I seem to recall it was slightly different than other implementations, which made it not work with some systems.09:39
vkoskivI do like the idea of consciously having to plug something in whenever audio capture is required.09:40

rasmusProblems with flashing the keyboard fw solved here. Packages the packages dfu-programmer, gcc-avr and avr-libc needed to be installed. Now on to the lpc...10:27

erlehmannrasmus you can find files in debian with apt-file13:51
erlehmann; apt-file search avr/io.h13:52
erlehmannavr-libc: /usr/lib/avr/include/avr/io.h   13:52
mntmnthis is a useful hint yes, i use it all the time14:17

kfxvkoskiv:   Reform's handbook says it's CTIA-compliant, so it should work with Apple-style devices (mic on the sleeve, instead of OMTP-style ground-sleeve)20:03

vagrantcis the amount of power the charger on the mnt-reform draws solely determined in hardware, or is there a software/firmware element and you could, say, adjust the policies in some way?20:08
+ austriancoder (sid152545@id-152545.hampstead.irccloud.com)20:08
vagrantce.g. i notice it typically draws maybe 60 watts when i plug it in, and it gradually tapers down to about ~45 watts and then eventually trails down to almost nothing once it is nearly fully charged20:09
vagrantccurious if i could adjust it to be less hungry at first and just charge more slowly, for example20:10
mntmnvagrantc: that limit is set via a resistor20:10
vagrantcso basically hardware20:10
vagrantci'll probably not hack the hardware to change it then :)20:11
vagrantcthanks20:12
vagrantcdoes the input voltage affect how much power it draws?20:13
vagrantci guess i could test that myself...20:13

vkoskivmntmn: How long does your current stock of parts last for shipments? I was reading the tweets about supply chain issues20:53
vkoskivIt seems like it's still getting worse :(20:53
mntmnvkoskiv: it covers everything that was preordered20:55
vkoskivActually I think I already asked this a while back. Brain is a bit scrambled. I'm in Pakistan, for some reason.20:57
vkoskivBut yes, that information makes me very happy for everyone who preordered20:57
