scopsYeah... I used beshare back in the days10:56
mntmnhmm, with chromium 90 included in debian, i get (on 1920x1080, xwayland) ~35fps in webgl blobs, with chromium 91 from snap 50fps11:36
mntmnwith chromium 92 (snap with edge channel), too11:38

mntmnok so the big difference is desktop GL vs ANGLE. --use-gl=angle fails on debian's chromium, but it's the default for the chrome/chromium in snap, and is significantly faster12:21

mntmnrobohornet score of debian's chromium 90 is 42, snap's chromium 92 is 50 (http://www.robohornet.org/#)  13:07
mntmnfirefox 88 robohornet score is 3613:20
mntmnfunny, stadia works in chromium 92... just my home internet's ping is too high for it (over LTE)14:03
scops... i wish moonlight would work ^^ but it cant use the hw decoder x.x14:03
mntmnwell, wishing doesn't make stuff work ;)14:05
scopsyeah, ... i can't help on that front... just with testing and money xD14:06
mntmnappreciated! ^^14:19
mntmnanyway, here are my notes https://community.mnt.re/t/workaround-to-run-chromium-92-installed-via-snap/28514:22
scopswhat do you think about bountysource? :)14:23
mntmncan you be more specific?14:24
mntmndo you want to fund some bugfixes?14:24
scopsthe website... no to make bounties for example for mainline kernel, xorg on reform, h264 support for i.mx8/reform in all apps and stuff like that :)14:26
mntmnthe mainline kernel is already being solved14:27
mntmnxorg won't really help anyone14:27
mntmnh264 is a good topic though14:27
scopsok to be more specific about kernel: in official debian repository ^^14:29
mntmnthis is just a matter of time14:30
scopscheck :)14:30
mntmnbecause once all mnt reform support is merged in mainline kernel, at some point debian will adopt it14:30
mntmnezequielg: do you know of any fundable efforts to get hantro decode support into ffmpeg, chromium? 14:32
mntmnscops: btw i'm running unpatched mesa now... so that's another thing solved14:33
scops\o/14:34
Asmadeusmntmn: chromium has a v4l2 m2m decoder afaik; I couldn't get it to work with my imx8mp because of some gbm/dmabuf issue apparently caused by the lack of render node (hence my question about it a while ago), but it should work for reform14:35
mntmnAsmadeus: interesting! do you know how to enable it? i'm getting "Video Decode: Software only. Hardware acceleration disabled" in chrome://gpu in chromium 92 14:37
Asmadeusmy args.gn has use_v4l2_codec=true and use_v4lplugin=true ; not sure about runtime switch so it might not be compiled in by default?14:39
Asmadeuslooks like it's gated by the first one14:41
Asmadeusah, wait; I had to patch it to get it to complain about gbm... it didn't support the ozone wayland version? sorry I don't recall of the top of my head14:46
Asmadeusif you're willing to try I can put the patch somewhere, I honestly don't think I'll take the time for that even when my reform gets here as I'm generally not using chromium14:47
mntmnah you have a custom build14:47
mntmnAsmadeus: i'm interested in the patch for sure!14:47
mntmnAsmadeus: i use chromium mostly because firefox is too slow14:48
mntmni mean, it's ok, but chromium is def. faster14:48
Asmadeusdropped patches here: https://codewreck.org/chromium/ -- they were based off 83 (which is old!), but the main one still applies on 92.0.4489.1 which is the most recent tag I have around on this laptop. The build stuff likely isn't required at all as commit message says and won't apply on anything recent anyway, it was just there in my tree I don't quite remember what this was for and brought it along 15:07
Asmadeusin case it helps...15:07
AsmadeusAs said though ultimately this was left as non-working so no promises; on our board iirc we confirmed it decodes but couldn't display the buffer which isn't very useful... it might not be worth the time rebuilding chromium15:09
mntmnthanks Asmadeus!15:13

flowyif anyone is curious, i got NhekoReborn running well on the reform. an aarch64/flatpak from their github. (it's a matrix client)21:04
flowyi've been pushed into setting up matrix-syapse and a signal-matrix bridge all because signal desktop doesn't provide arm binaries. i tried building myself but it was just too difficult. also, **** bloated electron stuff anyways.21:05
flowytried fluffychat as well, but it complained about not being able to create a GL context. i just assumed that's due to etnaviv opengl limitations and moved on21:07
flowynheko seems nice though21:08

flowyis there a way to adjust the scrollwheel sensitivity (i.e. trackball scroll mode)23:10
flowyalso, is there a way to avoid the mouse click event after scroll?23:10
flowymntmn: i would use chromium more if i could figure out how to increase the font size of the address/url bar independently of everything else... do you not find it incredibly tiny?23:23
mntmnflowy: the mouse click event is only on the left wheel button. i should take that out though. the sensitivity can be adjusted by adjusting the firmware a bit... it is quite easy to do if you know a little bit of C23:34
mntmnflowy: i do not know how to adjust the address bar size23:35
mntmnfor me the size is ok23:35
flowyyeah you should take out that click when you get the chance! it's nice to be able to use both buttons for scroll though, ergonomically23:36
mntmnnoted23:37
flowyi will investigate hacking the firmware23:37
flowyi literally know a little bit of c :)23:37
mntmnflowy: the important stuff is in Mouse.c23:38
mntmnit should somehow be possible to make real smooth scrolling instead of emulating a wheel23:38
mntmnbut i don't know how that works yet23:38
flowyyeah that would be cool23:38
