mntmnXgF: i kinda got used to the perf, i use reform exclusively as my computer at home now (except for playstation 4^^)17:36
mntmnXgF: also, nobody seems to have any insider info on imx9 cores17:36
mntmnXgF: imx8 is power hungry (afaik) and has seco blob >:|17:37
mntmnso yeah, ls1028a is the best bet at the moment for single core perf. we still need to get etnaviv to work on it (i haven't invested much time into that yet though)17:38
mcbonzhi there, I'm trying to migrate the OS from SD card to NVMe. I created a (luks encrypted) partition using gnome-disks. Then I tried to migrate using the reform-migrate tool. Got the following error: mount: /mnt: special device /dev/nvme0n1p1 does not exist. Does anyone have a clue what I might be doing wrong?17:40
mntmnbtw firefox 88 with layers.acceleration.force-enabled has some glitches on new tabs initially, but they go away after a while and the perf boost is noticeable (make sure GDK_BACKEND=wayland)17:41
sknebelfrom what I hear power on imx8 is not as terrible as the initial revisions were (which were really terrible), but it does run quite hot. and presumably getting ahold of some in the next year or so is going to be impossible anyways...17:41
mntmnsknebel: yeah they seem kind of rare?17:41
+ mauro_ (~mauro@ptr-g122vi8m50gf9uok9rf.18120a2.ip6.access.telenet.be)17:41
mntmnmcbonz: yeah, lets see.17:41
mntmnmcbonz: there's a bug in reform-migrate.17:42
mntmnmcbonz: line 40 should have $TARGET instead of /dev/nvme0n1p117:43
mntmnmcbonz: so you can replace that (the script is in /usr/sbin/reform-migrate)17:43
mntmnmcbonz: i'll update reform-tools tomorrow to fix this17:43
sknebelI mean they are one of the posterchilds for components people want to start using en masse and are now reserving due to the shortages. (and are done in relatively small processes - fewer places that can make them than many other things)17:44
mntmnmcbonz: but the script does only two things: 1. it mounts the (unlocked) disk on /mnt 2. rsync -axHAWXS --numeric-ids --info=progress2 / /mnt/17:44
mntmn(and then umounts /mnt)17:44
- mauro_ (QUIT: Ping timeout: 260 seconds) (~mauro@ptr-g122vi8m50gf9uok9rf.18120a2.ip6.access.telenet.be)17:46

mntmnmcbonz: good luck!17:48
mntmnXgF: someone could also make some rockchip module *screams*17:49
XgFIts surprisingly usable, just when bumping ino things which are single threaded I cry17:51
mntmnXgF: i feel ya. btw nobody has tried overclocking yet17:51

mntmnXgF: ohh emacs. i have a trick for you though, if you haven't done that already17:54
mntmnXgF: which is to use emacs with nativecomp (gccemacs)17:55
mntmnthis makes emacs very usable for me on reform incl. notmuch17:55
XgFI actually tried that and hit build issues, but i might need to try it again17:55
XgFpossibly some issue from the combination of the Pgtk and GCC patchsets17:55
mntmntry this  github.com/flatwhatson/emacs17:56

mntmnXgF: it also built only when i did make extraclean before17:58
mntmn(i had another build in the same repo before)17:58
XgFI was building everything via nixpkgs and if memory serves I hit a build error in one of the emacs plugins I use, but lets see what happens this time (it might have been caused by some other issue at the time)17:59
mntmnah ok17:59

mntmnXgF: it's implemented so that it blinks <10% iirc23:28
XgFmntmn: ooh. conventionally i'd expect some form of "charger connected" indicator :p23:29
XgF..i can see myself fiddling with firmware ^-^23:29
mntmnXgF: there are actually 2 conditions that can trigger it: individual cell low or gauge<10% https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform/-/blob/master/reform2-keyboard-fw/Keyboard.c#L28923:31
mntmnXgF: and here's the poll loop :D https://source.mnt.re/reform/reform/-/blob/master/reform2-keyboard-fw/Keyboard.c#L76023:31
