ehmryXgF: FWIW my current version is 21.05.20210405.3d1a77118:43
ehmryand I don't think I'm patching anything18:45

mntmnXgF: correct, wayland should be ok18:48
mntmnXgF: what kind of graphics corruption do you see?18:48
XgFmntmn: screen mostly black, some green dots where i'd expect the menu to be, and a trail of damage follows the mouse cursor18:50

mntmnXgF: strange. sounds like unlucky mesa version or wlroots version. can you try running kmscube on the linux console?18:52
mntmnXgF: probably kmscube -D /dev/dri/card118:52
mntmnXgF: you could also try running weston. if it is corrupted as well, then it's a mesa problem. if it works, it's a wlroots problem.18:53
XgFkmscube is fine!18:54
mntmnthat's good18:54
mntmnand weston?18:54
mntmnXgF: also, are you using single display or dual (with hdmi)?18:54
XgFimx8mq-mnt-reform2.dtb, so I think single? no external display connected18:55
XgFAnd Weston works, so it would appear to be a Sway/wlroots specific issue18:55
mntmnXgF: yes, ok. there are some glitches with dual and sway when the display is initially connected, that's why i asked. but that's not the issue for you.18:57
mntmnXgF: i would try to either go a few months back @ wlroots version (something stable) or maybe the latest master18:58
mntmnor use the version that we ship18:58
mntmncd wlroots18:58
mntmngit checkout 0.12.018:58
mntmncd sway18:59

mntmni can't find that on mouser ;)20:07
swiveli wonder where they sourced one for the endurapro https://www.pckeyboard.com/page/FeaturedProducts/UB40PGA20:09
swivel"The pointing stick is an idea perfected by IBM and Lexmark; and owned by Unicomp since it was patented in 1996" maybe it's just in-house developed20:10
swiveluhk have a trackpoint module too https://ultimatehackingkeyboard.com/product/trackpoint20:15
swivelclearly they're available somewhere20:16
alex4nde1swivel: I have a tex yoda with one.. they definitely had to jump through hoops to provide the "trackpoint" module20:20
* alex4nde1 -> alex4nder20:20
swivelalex4nde1: like licensing hoops?20:21
+ mauro_ (~mauro@ptr-g122vi688f002bjnjm1.18120a2.ip6.access.telenet.be)20:21
alex4nderthey bought from some third party, and then I think they had to lathe up a stem, and epoxy it to the module20:21

swivelthe last time i ordered x220 keyboards off ebay they sent me chinese knockoffs which I sent back, but they did have functioning trackpoints20:23
dopplersourcing hoops, yeah20:24
alex4nderhttps://www.sprintek.com/en/products/PointingStick.aspx .. I think this is who they ended up using20:24
alex4nderhuh, those guys are actually in simi valley20:28

alex4nderswivel: I just called sprinttek .. they'll sell modules in single quantities .. so that's a pretty good option20:40
alex4nderI haven't gotten my mnt reform yet, but it might be a cool addition20:40
alex4nder*sprintek20:41
alex4ndergetting the height adjustment over the key caps just seems like the only custom bit that might need to be machined20:41

+ mauro_ (~mauro@ptr-g122vi6en71w2adkarb.18120a2.ip6.access.telenet.be)20:42
swivelthat'd be really neat, a reform w/trackpoint would probably make me retire my thinkpads20:47

alex4nderyah, I've got similar thinking20:47
dopplerI'd be into that20:48
alex4nderI don't mind working on that, since sprintek is relatively local to me20:48

flowytrackpoint always give me RSI real quick22:50
flowyeven after increasing sens.22:50
flowybut it's cute22:51
alex4nderwhere you get injury?  I've found it's better than touchpads for me22:51
flowyi guess everyone's different. but yeah, touchpad is fine for me. i'm curious to give the trackball a go with the reform22:52
flowyi can't remember where, i think it was wrist22:52
flowybut it could have been knuckles22:52
alex4nderah yah22:53
mntmni'm obviously biased but i started with trackball things when i got something like RSI from mouse + bad keyboard22:53
flowyyeah now i remember, it was actually in my fingers22:53
mntmni tend to use the trackball in reform alternating with different fingers + hands22:53
flowyyeah i get RSI in the wrist from mouse pretty easily22:54
flowyand maybe also in the fingers22:54
alex4ndermntmn: yah, I lost the use of both arms from poor keyboard usage.. switched to dvorak on a kinesis classic, and then healed up22:55
alex4nderI think the big changeup for me going mechanical.. I haven't had much of an issue since22:56
KoodaSame here, switching to dvorak-like for french and orthogonal keyboard.22:58
KoodaI still have occasional pain if I go back to a regular keyboard for a few hours, especially if it’s tilted.22:59
mntmnyeah, so these are the main reasons why i did these kind of "odd" choices of putting mech. keys and trackball in reform23:00
alex4nderyah, it was a big selling point for me23:00
KoodaYep, that’s great. It’ll be exactly like my desktop setup, but on the go :D23:00
KoodaMy own keyboard also uses the Kailh choc switches ^^23:01
flowyi spent a while crawling the web for any information on an odd little external trackball pointer i used as a kid. the enclosure was like 3x3cm, and the trackball itself was just the sise of a peppercorn. you'd hold the whole thing with just two or three fingers and use your thumb to roll around23:02
flowy*size23:02
flowywas a nice portable thing to use with a laptop23:03
KoodaOh, interesting. I’ve never seen that.23:03
flowybut obviously you couldn't really switch back and forth so easily between typing and pointing23:03
flowyso best for games and surfing23:03
alex4nderflowy: https://www.oldmouse.com/blog/img/thumbelina27661.jpg <- like that one?23:13
+ mauro_ (~mauro@ptr-g122vi8ltzfyg3flik5.18120a2.ip6.access.telenet.be)23:15
flowyhah! yes. nicely done, i couldn't find that.23:15
alex4nderI remember those as well23:15
- artfwo (QUIT: Ping timeout: 246 seconds) (~artfwo@ubuntu/member/artfwo)23:15
flowycould be cool to have something like that but wireless and a little less cheap. eventually their accuracy was garbage23:16
- mauro_ (QUIT: Ping timeout: 260 seconds) (~mauro@ptr-g122vi8ltzfyg3flik5.18120a2.ip6.access.telenet.be)23:22
flowyused it with a Texas Instruments TravelMate TI 486SLC/2523:25
flowythat laptop was cool23:25
+ artfwo (~artfwo@ubuntu/member/artfwo)23:27
mntmnflowy: ha, it looks a bit like the blackberry trackballs?23:42
mntmni have one of those as a module in the lab23:42
Koodaflowy: very cute laptop :)23:49
Koodamntmn: design idea for a Reform desktop-like enclosure : Sharp X68000 :D23:50
KoodaIt looks so sleek imho23:51
mntmnhehe23:52
KoodaIt’s probably not that practical though23:53
