lastebilok I finally got it; but a bit too tired to explain it sensibly02:40
lastebilthe MAIN thing to NOT do is do NOT start with the wrong keyboard definition loaded, or specify the wrong keyboard in the config02:41
lastebilalso using swaymsg -t get_inputs to be sure you are editing the keyboard you are testing is a very good idea02:42
lastebilnow I sleep02:42

mntmnlastebil: huh, no it did not run the test.14:13
mntmnlastebil: also, great that you figured the keyboard stuff out! this will be very helpful14:13
mntmni'm doing R-1 motherboard bringup now!14:14
KoodaSo exciting! Good luck! :)14:24
lastebilmntmn: I'll write it up ... later, when I do it again from scratch to be sure I understand what I did...14:42
lastebilI did try to map left-shift+up to "up" but it doesn't seem to work, it only seems to produce "shift" - perhaps this is a limitation of keys that would be used as "modifiers" - they can ONLY be modifiers14:43
lastebil(whereas in firmware, you can blow right past that limitation)14:43
lastebilI guess the next thing for folks who feel that is a limitation is modifying the firmware of the keyboard (:14:44
lastebiland I'm fairly sure you're not using QMK/QWK/TWK (whatever that firmware is called, I forget right now)  (:14:44
mntmnyeah, a method to update the keymap via usb would be neat as well15:07
KoodaIt would be quite easy, the eeprom could contain the keymap. :)15:13
KoodaI intend to do that on my custom keyboard (it’s also using an atmega32u415:13
